The UK’s visual arts sector calls for sustained support from the government to maintain its contribution to the UK's creative economy. ?? We've joined more than 4,000 arts professionals and artists in signing an open letter to Lisa Nandy MP, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. The letter urges the government to take steps in supporting the visual arts sector, as per the recommendations of the Visual Arts Manifesto proposed by Art Fund and 23 other arts organisations earlier this year. The letter puts forward three of our key policy asks: ? To ensure every school child visits a cultural organisation every year ? To protect free entry to museums and galleries ? To expand the Museum and Gallery Exhibition Tax Relief The letter and manifesto were highlighted by The Guardian this weekend: https://bit.ly/4gbEio9 ?? Read the letter: https://bit.ly/3ZbLavE

Self-Esteem Arts helps students to communicate and learn how to approach things differently using various arts forms all while building confidence.#ArtsInCT #AfterSchoolPrograms #confidencebuilding
Arts in CT offers a program called "Self-Esteem Arts" designed to assist students in our afterschool program in connecting with their emotions and developing self-confidence. Through various art forms such as visual arts and performing arts, we guide students in expressing their feelings and perceptions. Each day, students explore a concept and create visual representations of their emotions and perspectives. In the attached image, a young man depicted his view of the world by illustrating "Night and Day."

T4T (Thought for Today) Discuss GENEROSITY and it's importance to artists, viewers of art, as a subject of art? What effect does it’s presence or absence have on our lives? Can it be taught? Taken away? Subverted? How do different cultures approach this concept and behaviour? What might society look like without it? Is there a set of rules for it? Develop your own talking points. Try this but substituting another subject for visual arts.

The VISION 20/50: an (im)possible festival is such a dream project to be part of, a component of the celebration of 50yrs of Arts Outwest. Using the framework of a hypothetical arts festival in the year 2050, we are asking today's regional artists, who are connected to the Central West, to use their arts practice and their ideas as a mode for imagining and proposing an aspirational future for our world. "It’s the year 2050 and it’s the launch of the Central West’s region-wide new Festival of Arts and Culture – VISION 20/50. But what does the future look like for the NSW Central West? Who are the artists in this festival and what is the work that they are making? How has the world and the region changed and what role does art play in engineering our future?" There's still time for artists who have a connection to the Central West to join a workshop and submit an EOI to take part in this innovative journey! https://lnkd.in/gCNv3XtB Delivered by Arts Outwest and supported by Charles Sturt University, and the Regional Arts Fund.

There's a room in which arts funding dwells, and in that room is a table. Around that table, sit a group of regular faces, able to make their art through regular funding support. There are others in the room, who sometimes get to sit at the table. And there are the rest. Those who know there's a room, and know where the door is, but don't have a key to get in. Then there are those who can see the room, perhaps from a distance, but can't find the door. And then there are those who don't even know the room exists. While there is funding available through Creative Australia, etc., most people who make art in Australia have never had any support from any of the funding bodies. Sometimes it's because many people who make art don't know how to access that funding. Often it's simply because it's outside their skill set to write the right grant application.

T4T (Thought for Today) Discuss LOYALTY and it's importance to artists, viewers of art, as a subject of art? What happens with it, without it? What might it look like? Is there a set of rules for the results of loyalty and disloyalty? Is loyalty to a person the same as loyalty to a group? An idea? An ideology? Develop your own talking points. Try this but substituting another subject for visual arts.

Want to show your work at galleries? You can't just set them free in oceans of art without any organization, presentation, instructions, or guidance on what they'll be looking at. You have to curate the work first. Limit what you show to your most significant subjects or series, current or recent work, ongoing projects, pieces that best represent your skills, and other noteworthy examples. Know what you're showing and why. Impressing with your best always beats overwhelming them with everything.
