The steel and concrete industry is responsible for 9% of global CO2 emissions, which is three times the emissions of the airline industry. A key factor in addressing CO2 emissions and the issue of global warming is to find new ways of capturing CO2 from the atmosphere. Timber products play a vital role here, as trees capture CO2 as they grow, which is then locked in and stored in the timber indefinitely. As well as its carbon capture properties, timber is also a fully renewable resource with low embodied energy.
