Join Reflo, Inc.'s Milwaukee Water Storyteller Michael Timm, Sherman Park artist Debbie Sajnani, and community organizer Steve O'Connell for an interactive photo walk through Milwaukee's Grasslyn Manor neighborhood on Saturday, Oct. 12. Neighbors have organized "Build the Ark" efforts to rally in the face of chronic basement flooding and the walk will explore our relationship to water over time. WaterMarks MKE, supported by University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and other partners including Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District and Milwaukee Public Museum, connects local artists with local experts to amplify a citywide dialogue around water issues. Meet new friends -- rain or shine -- at 1 p.m. at Albright United Methodist Church, 5555 W. Capitol Dr. for what is sure to be an engaging outing. Refreshments will be offered. No charge. Come with an open mind and prepared for an hour on your feet. #mkewaterstories

Walking through life with our armor on...all of us do from such an early age. Imagine society...our neighborhoods, schools, public spaces, libraries, gardens, creeks and roadways... All designed with the intention of make life more peaceful, vibrations of inspiration allowing us all to live a life without the armor...without the fear songs and the beating and clanking that comes along. Designing again for solutions and not solely for market competition? Imagine a World...where we design solutions as community coalitions...initiated and executed together...not asking for permission from the top down systems. Can we drop the rules of competition and start connecting our bridges together? I believe we can. In my second week of the Cabin co-hort, the mentors are inspiring and the fellow stewards also move with faith that we can. <3 Check out https://cabin.city To building new communities, one neighborhood at a time. <3

Landmarks Illinois recently awarded Shawnee Hills Arts Council in Anna a $2,500 grant through the Barbara C. and Thomas E. Donnelley II Preservation Fund to conduct a structural engineering study of Anna’s original City Hall Building used by the Arts Council to host community programming. Constructed in 1894, Anna’s Original City Hall Building is today home to the Shawnee Hill Arts Council’s office and studios, where it holds art and music classes and kids’ summer camps. The building is part of the council’s three-building campus, which also includes the 1900s Fire Station and 1920s Western Auto Store. The Arts Council purchased the former city hall building in 2008 and has since continuously worked to restore it to meet modern needs while retaining its historic character in downtown Anna.
