Happy Labor Day to those who celebrate the unofficial end of summer! When I was much younger, like in the photo below ?? with my beautiful mother, Labor Day meant the last day of summer vacation, which also meant that school started the following day. And like most kids, for me getting back into the habit of going to school was tough. I joined my classmates in counting down to the next holiday, probably Thanksgiving, then the highly anticipated Christmas break! What we didn’t realize back then, at least I didn’t, was that school was preparing us for with a life lesson to never stop learning. Today, we have unlimited knowledge and resources at our fingertips, but how are we using that information and our time? Are you a student of lifelong learning? Imagine summer break stretching on forever! Sure, it sounds fun at first, but kids can get bored and lose some of the skills they learned in school. That's where summer camp comes in! It's like a fun zone for learning and growing. Think of it like this: at camp, kids get to explore new things like arts and crafts, sports, maybe even music or drama! They get to meet new friends and counselors who can become like older siblings. Camp also helps them build confidence by trying new things and figuring things out on their own. So, how can you use this as a parent? Maybe your child is a little shy. A camp with team sports or group activities can help them come out of their shell. Or, if your child is a ball of energy, an arts and crafts camp can help them focus their creativity. It's a win-win! After months of dedicated effort, a little recognition and fun can go a long way in boosting morale and engagement. One great way to engage teachers is by celebrating something positive like great test scores or making it to the last day of school. ?? Here's a few ways you can boost engagement from our former educators: ?? An outdoor party or picnic allows everyone to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. Provide tasty treats like an ice cream cake, popsicles, or other fun snacks that teachers can indulge in. ?? A personal touch like a nice note from administrators praising each educator for their successes over the past year can mean a lot. ?? The end of the year can be hectic, so giving them a break from extra meetings shows you value their time. ?? Offer your teachers a helping hand by stapling papers, stuffing folders, or organizing bookshelves, this would probably be a nice surprise for teachers. ?? The key is to make teachers feel valued and recognized for their efforts throughout the school year.
