I work with all kinds of organisations - from charities older than I am, to scale-ups looking to solidify their culture. From public bodies needing to follow a set path to festivals looking to forge their own way ahead. That’s the beauty of facilitation - I don’t need to be an expert in your organisation or sector. I don’t need to know everything about how your charity runs, I don't need to know how to pull off an amazing music festival. Just like the work I did with Boomtown Fair - my skill set is bringing people together, helping them find and keep focus and work together on whatever area they need. Organisational Development is one of my main areas of interest - we can work on planning an organisational strategy, team alignment, organisational culture and much more. But definitely don't ask me to run your festival... Do get in touch if you think I couldn’t possibly help your organisation - I love a good facilitation challenge! #OrganisationalDevelopment #TeamCulture #StrategyPlanning #Facilitation #JewellFacilitation

#APTipTuesday – Integrating music into your gala program adds fun, energy and entertainment value to the guest experience, and can also help inspire generosity. Here are three ideas for enhancing and elevating your event with music:? ? 1. Use music to help connect your guests with your mission. An inspiring song right before your fund-a-need can provide the right emotion to set the stage for generous giving.? ? 2. Work with your AV partner to identify upbeat “walk-on” music to play as your speakers are entering the stage.? ? 3. Identify a song that ties in with the theme of each of your live auction items. Playing a snippet of a song as each item is described is a great way to add playfulness to your auction and help keep guests engaged.? ? #AnnPlans #TipTuesday #NonprofitEvent #FundraisingEvent #CommunityEngagement #Philanthropy #EventPlanning?

Read my post below to learn a little more about me - and the explanation behind this photo (taken in 2013). https://lnkd.in/gibhVY3v
This week marks the start of Glastonbury Festival week. Being just a half hour from the festival means that we get to see the change in cars and visitors passing through on the way. the spotting of a sticker in a window and next week, the wristbands. ?? What you may not know about me is that I used to steward at Glastonbury (and other festivals) on behalf of Oxfam. In return, the charity would receive a donation from the festival organiser. (See photo from the 'early days') One of my absolute passions is live music. I love the atmosphere, and the excitement and think how the performers must feel in front of all those people (Rag n Bone Man at Glastonbury was one clear memory!) There's no doubt, that no matter how you do it, GIVING BACK is rewarding. Whether a charity, a business or a service that I can recommend to others. I love the lush feeling of supporting someone else to move towards their goals! So a thank you to those who have enjoyed part or the whole journey with me. ?? No matter what the role, a huge thank you to everyone for your continued support. It means the world ?? PS. I like to think my festival 'style' has improved with age ?? #thankyou #freelancer #marketing #somerset #stewarding #helpingcharity

There's been a lot of unfortunate misinformation going around about festival donations, so some of the Chicago chambers of commerce got together to clear the air. So the question is, where do those donations REALLY go? Spoiler alert, it’s NOT the city! Q: Who puts on a street festival? We do! Organizations like your local chambers of commerce! Q: What is a chamber of commerce? People are surprised to learn that a chamber of commerce isn’t a government organization. We’re actually nonprofits run by small teams, our whole purpose is to support our neighborhoods, uplift our businesses, provide services for our residents, and entertainment for everyone. Q: Ok, so where does the money go?! A festival is more than just a party, it’s a fundraiser. We apply for non-profit grants, but these festivals, besides being an absolute blast, are also our biggest fundraiser. Think of it like our annual gala but with a super casual dress code and better music. All our events, neighborhood clean up, resources for business owners like masterclasses and trainings, and non-profit benefits all rely on your donations. Q: But it’s free public property right? You’re right! It is public property, and whether you donate or not, we welcome you in to enjoy the festivities, but closing down the streets and paying for entertainment is expensive! Q: It’s fine if I don’t donate though cause someone else will right? Again, we welcome you in, but as of 2023, we’ve found that less than 50% of festival attendees donate. Q: So what now? We’re not gonna lie, planning these festivals is a huge and difficult endeavor, but we can also genuinely say that we love it. Despite all the hurdles; discovering a new artisan, seeing faces light up during drag queen story times, or that first great bite of that Chicago dog makes it all worth it.

This month's nonprofit spotlight is Peacemaker. I got to sit down with Ricky Beauchamp and learn about the ways this organization can help, and also hear about the impact they've already made. Here's what we discussed: Q. What is one thing you want our community to know about this organization? A. They are a nonprofit that exists to benefit children's organizations. Q. How many were you able to help in 2023? A. The amounts vary by year depending on fundraising proceeds. Cumulatively in the past 9 years, they have donated $850,000 to several organizations. Their core 4 are Girls Inc, Development Wings, Children's Emergency Shelter, and the Boys & Girls Club in addition to other organizations. Q. What brought you to this organization? A. 10 years ago Ricky was approached by a client who dreamt of a nonprofit music festival. It would be a community asset, an economic driver for downtown Fort Smith, and benefit children's organizations. The rest is history. Q. What big events do you have coming up in 2024? A. Their 10th Annual Peacemaker Music Festival will take place on October 11th and 12th. Tickets can be purchased at https://lnkd.in/gCMDF6Ys Q. How can we help? A. The goal is to reach $1M in proceed donations to celebrate their 10th year anniversary! They are looking for corporate sponsorships as well as ticket sales and festival attendees.

No doubt that tents are a big issue for festivals, alongside the general waste and recycling challenges. ? ? But a new(ish) challenge for festivals are waste vapes [millions of them] and other FastTech electricals like power banks and mini-fans. We have produced a guide on what festivals need to know and what they can do to help manage these challenges. To read the guide click https://lnkd.in/gTUZDMdw And for more on the rising challenges posed by FastTech click https://lnkd.in/eWmXmVTp
More than 250,000 tents are abandoned at UK music festivals each year. A typical four-person tent can use as much plastic as nearly 9,000 plastic straws or 22 Coldplay LPs! Because they’re incredibly difficult to recycle, most abandoned tents are destined for landfill or incineration if they can’t be re-used or donated to charities. https://lnkd.in/e7ZvJPuP
