Hi ERP Community, Dangers of Misaligned Methodologies in ERP Implementation. ERP Project Managers, have you bothered to confirm which project management methodology your ERP partner(s) will be adopting or has adopted to drive your ERP projects? This looks like a simple question but very often this discussions are forgotten or not important. When an ERP partner adopts an Agile approach while the client adheres to Waterfall, several risks arise: 1. Expect a complete communication breakdown because both approaches preach different messages and have different expectations. 2. The iterative nature of Agile may clash with Waterfall's sequential phases. Expect lack of alignment and alot of issues with coordinating deliverables and project milestones. 3. Agile's focus is on delivering value quickly which is the partners goal, while the client may opt for a focused approach that adheres to standards. This is one of the major reasons for project delays and confusion. 4. Expect poor risk management and project noise without substantial progress. 5. Expect this will impact negatively on the user experience and post-project support experience etc. The best way to avert such disaster is to make sure early in the project, the methodology to be adopted is agreed, documented and monitored.
