Very interesting thoughts! As a young multimedia designer, and UXr I was that annoying person in meetings who always wanted to know 'Why' we were doing certain projects, to the extent that people dreaded me entering the initial project meetings. This was certainly not an egoic play, just more in line with the fact that my mind works in Business Mode all the time, and therefore I was questioning the marketer or project owner's alignment with the overall business goal or need. I would have dumped half of the projects I was on and returned to the drawing board, but as a lowly designer, I was just told to chill, stop causing problems and just do what I was being asked to do. On some occasions this came to a request for another designer to work on their projects... unfortunately, during these times I was the design lead, hence involved in all projects and the first question was always 'WHY?' I have had to temper that over the years - more of an assimilation scenario within certain roles due to a lack of support from my managers - but this just shows the need for this type of challenge and personality within your teams. Thoughts?

As the last day of summer winds down (tomorrow school starts here ??), I’ve been reflecting on the adventures I had with my family this summer. While many people love the brisk air of fall or the joy of the holidays, I truly cherish the fun and freedom of summer. ?? This got me thinking about how we can capture that same sense of adventure and bring it into our work lives. I’m all about helping teams find their own “adventures” by aligning their talents with the right roles. When we empower people to work within their strengths, they bring that same summer energy and excitement to the team. ?? As the week winds down, I’m reflecting on all the achievements we’ve had at Lightfarm Studios these past few days. I just returned from a 20-day trip, and to be honest, at first, I wasn’t exactly excited to get back to work. Stepping back into my role was really nice, but made me realize how much I needed that offline time - which wouldn't be possible without the support of my team. I came back more inspired, more determined, and more energized to push forward with my team. Being a producer in advertising has its challenges, but stepping into a leadership role brought me face-to-face with the most rewarding—and difficult—tasks of my career. It’s not just about managing workflows and hitting deadlines; it’s about people—their aspirations, personal goals, and creating an environment where they can truly thrive. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that listening isn’t enough. Often, people are so used to not being asked about their future that they don’t even know how to articulate their goals. I remember asking one of my team members what they wanted to do next, and they were genuinely surprised. They weren’t used to having someone invest in their growth like that. So, I’ve made it a point to not only listen but encourage my team to think bigger, to challenge themselves, and to explore their own potential. Looking back, I couldn’t be prouder of the growth and independence my team of producers has shown. While I was on vacation, I didn’t have to worry—they handled everything, collaborated, and solved problems like pros. That is why I would like to extend an special highlight for them today.
