I was at a job fair last week and a candidate said to me; "??????, ?? ?????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????? ?????? ???? ???????? ??????????????????????". When I started as a recruiter, I competed with everyone, always seeing who had the contracts I wanted and figuring out how I could get them. Outside of recruitment, I was always competing, whether it was in the gym, or online gaming. My friendship group even had a game called Nandos - where you would eat as much Nandos chicken as possible. While competition was a huge part of my 20's, my mindset changed and I realised that collaboration was key. Collaboration gets more results for more people. Sometimes it's the harder path, and sometimes it takes longer, but it's worth it. Now I don't compete with other ex-military recruiters; instead, I've worked in partnership with a few, and I'd happily do so again. On one of my webinars, I mention most of the other ex-military recruiters, job boards, job fairs and networking groups. Ex-Mil isn't here to compete with other recruitment businesses - instead, we are here to do what we've done since 2005 - serve the armed forces community. Which is lucky for them, since our team is AWESOME! ??????

Hey HR Reps and Recruiters: If there is a job fair in the community that you recruit from, do you ask current employees if they want to attend and help? If they do not want any part of it, they probably think the place they work at is toxic, and are just in for the money. Why aren't your veterans recommending your place to work at? Why not ask them, and listen to their answers? Can minor adjustments make the place someone would join and want to spend 30 years at?
