UI/UX Redesign for Pembimbing.id Dashboard – Student Guidance Platform Across Indonesia I recently completed a UI/UX redesign project for Pembimbing.id, a digital platform providing academic guidance services for students across various levels and study programs in Indonesia. This project includes three main roles: Admin, Mentor, and Client. Each role has a customized interface designed to streamline access and interaction in academic mentoring processes. In this project, I worked on: 1. Enhancing navigation and accessibility with an intuitive dashboard layout. 2. Adding new features such as a more efficient checkout flow, additional mentor information, and an improved layout for teaching schedules and application history. 3. Developing a cohesive design system with fresh colors and modern typography, giving a strong and professional visual identity. With this design, Pembimbing.id aims to support students from initial assignments to final projects, focusing on user experience and functionality. I fired someone during the month. They had some potential and I believed that with my guidance I could make a great Brand Pilot of them. Potential alone isn't enough... I've made it a policy to invest in people's potential first, even at the risk of failing sometimes. The Tunisian job market is the type in which people with potential are quite easily found everywhere. But people with the grit to put up serious work and have solid soft skills are rarer, and most importantly, tested. I found myself teaching basic grammar, basic manners and basic communication more often than actual hard skills. At Erathis the rule for new hires is that you're allowed to make any mistakes as long as you take effort into doing your work. Don't be afraid to be wrong. However, I will fire you faster than lighting if you don't do your tasks or if you just copy some lazy work and present it as yours. We also NEVER hire for a UX/UI Designer positions. As we respect the experience too much to lump such two big fields together. I won't stop giving people a chance. Good culture is about weeding out the people who even when well intended are not playing their part right... while never despairing and always giving a chance in hopes of being surprised. I feel incredibly grateful to the ones that were able to stay with us even though I have such high standards. It is truly my pride to know that you are part of this journey. #tunisia #ux #ui

One of the best designers I’ve ever hired had zero UX experience. Many bad portfolios I’ve reviewed came from people with (!) 15-20 (!) years of experience... Experience is important, but it’s not the only metric. And that’s one of the many nuances in design hiring. Like any hiring, design recruitment is complex and ambiguous. It needs to be managed by people who truly understand it—professional designers, design managers, or specialized design recruiters. If you’re looking for a great founding designer and haven’t hired for that role before, seek advice from experts(advisers, mentors etc). Hiring the wrong person based on rubbish criteria like years of experience or a MAANG background can kill your future design. P.S. The designer I hired years ago with no UX experience is now a Senior. Good luck!

In truth, as the saying goes, “There’s nothing new under the sun.” When you rely too heavily on just one reference for your design, you might end up creating something generic and that can be considered plagiarism. So, how do we avoid this? How can we learn to design without copying? Even Japan's fastest train, the Shinkansen, was inspired by the shape of a bird's beak. God is the greatest designer. If you feel stuck in your design, try stepping outside, driving around your area, and don't forget to observe every small detail you encounter. This includes socializing and having empathy for users who you believe need your product, even if they can't afford it. Delighted to share our journey with Suruhanku.id in designing the UI/UX of a mobile application for cost control at PT Akkarya Jaya. Challenges Faced: We started with the significant challenge of developing a solution that was not only efficient but also intuitive. PT Akkarya Jaya required a tool to monitor and manage project budgets more effectively, while providing accurate real-time reports to stakeholders. Our Creative Process: Creating SRS (Software Requirements Specification): Our initial step was to deeply understand PT Akkarya Jaya's needs and establish clear specifications for the application. Designing ERD (Entity-Relationship Diagram): We developed a robust database structure to support all desired features. Building a Better User Experience: From activity diagrams to wireframes, we meticulously mapped out each stage of user interaction to ensure the application delivers a seamless and efficient experience. Delivering Engaging UI/UX Design: Our creative team produced captivating and functional interface designs, ensuring every element enhances usability alongside aesthetics. Results: Through close collaboration between our team and PT Akkarya Jaya, we successfully launched an application that not only met expectations but also exceeded them. This application not only aids in managing project costs more efficiently but also allows PT Akkarya Jaya to focus on business growth without administrative constraints.
