The Winter Walk strives to create unity, magnifies kindness, and exemplifies the absolute best of our humanity. In our movement, there are no divisions visible, no conflicts brought to the fore - just pure love and a shared goal of lifting up those in need. In a time when our country feels so divided, this unity at our annual walk becomes more important than ever. By joining together, we can not only end homelessness but also strengthen our communities and our economy, and improve the quality of life for every person in our nation. However, we do face significant challenges: right now, too much of our funding is being used to put out the fires of a local and national crisis that has persisted for decades. We lack the capital, time, and resources to focus on prevention and to build the sustainable, supportive systems that people need to re-enter safe spaces, rebuild their lives, and eventually rejoin the mainstream economy. Winter Walk programs offer a clear path forward, but we need your help. ?? A Message of Love & Unity: https://lnkd.in/dGcuuab3

Take the time needed to lament, rest, feel all the feels… And then there’s work to do. Find local non profits you can partner with who are in proximity to to our neighbors impacted by systemic challenges and barriers and love them well (this means be culturally compassionate/humble too). All this to say, who wants to partner with me and The Firehouse Dream as we dream up even more ways to be a safe space and place for BIPOC youth in Chicagoland area? We are using creativity as a healing tool, as we invest in youth mental health and financial wellness (this includes focusing on racial healing.) We can’t do this work without our entire ecosystem, and most of all we need the funding to do this work! Come volunteer, donate, and/or leverage your network to get us even more connected. ???? https://lnkd.in/gRDaSn7X

?? Introducing Otley Common... This is a story about our towns, our streets, our buildings and our community. The spaces and places we all share, should share and need to share. They lead us to a deeper sense of place and connect us to each other. COMMON places that we can meet, learn, teach, work and enjoy. Places that make us feel proud. Places that speak to us, that we have helped create, we can have a stake in, that we build for the COMMON good. To create a new history – reinvented, renovated and reimagined. What our old COMMON buildings can be. These buildings were never constructed to serve the few, they were created in eras of civic pride, constructed for the common person. This is our collective commission – to become custodians of the building, to give it a new purpose, a new lease of life and meaning for the future and value to our town and all of us that live here. An open building that becomes a beacon, an inviting place for us all to use, to communicate, to comment. A place that combines the wealth of a community, its people, its resources and its spirit. Created from a cooperative approach and a true sense of duty. The building will be a place we all have in COMMON.? Find out how you can donate, invest, support and get involved in our plans to purchase and transform Otley Methodist Church at https://lnkd.in/e5_4S64k

[Please donate] to help the grassroots, community and relief efforts of the Palisades Fire and the afflicted Town of Topanga who is still working around the clock to protect their city 2 things: 1) I've been working non-stop with Topanga specific grassroots community self-organizing doing amazing work -> we're mobilizing incredibly well, the people are amazing! this goes to help them with the projects and needs 2) I have eyes on every step of the way, from being a Council Member of this non-profit (Foundation for Human Potential), to tracking it, to seeing where the money goes (often on an itemized spreadsheet 3) there's tons of great ways to donate money and help, please consider this one if you want really good transparency and optics on how things flow (or to just support the work Victoria and I and so many others are doing https://lnkd.in/gPppHfBd #palisadesfire #TopangaSAFE #TopangaSTRONG
