We welcomed Ryan Frederick, author of Right Place, Right Time, to a membership call earlier this year. Frederick, an expert on longevity, has immersed himself in researching this exact topic. Where people choose to live is rarely ever a shotgun decision and Frederick would argue, where you live matters enormously. Timing isn’t something, it’s everything At this moment of your life, are you in the right place at the right time? Read the full post on the Journal: https://lnkd.in/gc-Uibfq

First, senseless gun violence is to be condemned. No matter your politics, it is not good to see another human being get hurt. In light of Trump’s assassination attempt, people can jump to conclusions such as “the world is evil”, “the world is ending”, “we are in dark times”. There is a concept called Confirmation Bias. This means people will take their own beliefs about the world that maybe irrational or biased and will take one piece of information to justify it while ignoring other important facts. One tragic event such as this does not mean the world is over or evil. Rather, it is more realitic and accurate to say that in this world bad things do happen. And just as true, we cannot ignore that there are also many good things that do happen. Two things can be true.

Here's why good men/women don't want this dangerous job anymore. Mind you, I've helped many members of law enforcement by custom-fitting them to their weapons with PersonaGrip, and I've taught Police Pursuit to many departments in FL, PA, NY, OH, WI, and MI. My comment on YouTube: "Bad Cops like this guy get GOOD Cops Killed. How? Because this isn't 1975, and these videos go viral in social media. "Meanwhile, 90% of cops do a good job; however, when the majority of citizens base their perceptions of cops on the few who ruin it for the rest, angry citizens can retaliate...sometimes with deadly force...given the level of frustration that exists in society today. "The solution lies in the GOOD cops kicking the bad cops off the force...basically, self-policing within their departments. "Unfortunately, the overall public perception of police has deteriorated so badly that good men/women don't want that job anymore. This results in a shortage of police which forces them to accept applicants who are not suited for the job...like this guy. "I miss 1975 when I did Ride-Alongs in Ft. Lauderdale's LET Program (Law Enforcement of Tomorrow)...with GOOD COPS." https://lnkd.in/gSQHu5jH

We are living in an era of fear. With regard to this country’s obsession with guns, the fear of public gatherings is well founded. We cannot prevent mass shootings and we we certainly cannot protect people. With hundreds of mass shootings per year, the evidence is clear that more guns mean more deaths. And where was the good guy with a gun to stop the bad guy with a bad guy with a gun? We had two Good Samaritans without guns who tackled the shooter-most apropos for celebrating a football victory. Maybe the object lesson is more tackling and fewer guns. The insanity of the gun culture prevails. Nothing will change, no matter how many mass shootings there are in this country. Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity to do the same thing and expect a different result?

"Am I missing something, or has the usual series of post-shooting press conferences simply not materialized? It seems we don’t even know the basics. How many of these questions have a satisfactory/confirmed answer? Beyond ‘AR-15’ what weapon, exactly? How was it equipped? What type of ammunition, exactly? How many shots? How many unfired rounds left in the magazine? In the backpack? How many people were hit/grazed? Who are they and what are their injuries. What are President Trump’s injuries? How many fired rounds have been recovered? From where? Is the venue still an active crime scene, and if so, why was the roof being washed? What was the presumptive shooter doing over the several days prior? What was the transmitter for? What else was in the car? Was the shooter in contact with anyone by phone or other device while at the rally? Was the water tower covered? If so, how? If not, why not? Feel free to provide any answers you think we have official confirmation of. And please suggest other questions that should be readily answerable. @dbongino" https://lnkd.in/gvkUz_Ny

Stepping into unfamiliar territory can be nerve-wracking. I recently tried shooting guns for the first time ever, and boy was I nervous! I mean, holding a gun is a big deal, right? I was super worried I might mess up and accidentally hurt someone. But I decided to give it a shot! I listened really carefully to the instructor, asking tons of questions like, "What happens if the bullet bounces back?" and "What if I drop the gun?" My head was spinning with thoughts, but I wanted to make sure I knew what to expect. Then came the moment of truth as I enter the firing zone! I aimed, pulled the trigger, and guess what? I hit the target four times and the remaining 6 was within the alpha zone! I couldn't believe it! I was actually good at it! Here's what I learned: 1?? It's okay to be scared: Trying new things can be super scary, but it's important to push through your fears and give it a shot. 2?? Practice makes perfect: You might not be a pro right away, but with practice and patience, you can get better and better. 3?? Believe in yourself: Sometimes you just have to trust yourself and go for it. You might surprise yourself with what you can do! So, will I do it again? Definitely YES! Because trying new things is all about having fun and discovering what you're capable of! ?? Ikaw? What is it that you wanted to try? #TryingNewThings #BelieveInYourself #PracticeMakesPerfect

Very good information - the most important weapon you carry is your mind! From the article: - "I have always had the mindset of being prepared for the worst-case scenario, so I’d be ready for anything." - "It’s not paranoia. It’s just having a game plan in place for when things happen." - "If or when they do, they usually happen rather quickly, leaving you only moments to react." - "If you don’t already have some sort of plan for it, you are forced to come up with a solution on the spot, leaving you way behind on some important decision making and actions that need to happen." Just take some time to think through scenarios and prepare. That time may actually save you and your family's lives. You have to vote and vote early! Vote policies, not party ... or hate, or division, or conspiracy theories.
