Collaborating with GSC Architects and Harvey Builders, we swiftly generated precise as-built drawings. Our work included HVAC, trusses, beams, columns, plumbing, electrical, and exterior elevations. ?? Simplifying Earthquake-Resistant Design: The Equivalent Static Method ??? Seismic design can seem complex, but the Equivalent Static Method (ESM), as per IS 1893 (Part 1): 2016, makes it manageable for regular structures. This simplified approach calculates lateral forces due to earthquakes as static loads, ensuring the safety of low-rise and regular buildings. ?? Quick Highlights of ESM: Focuses on regular structures with uniform mass and stiffness. Uses seismic parameters like Zone Factor (ZZ), Importance Factor (II), and Response Reduction Factor (RR). Distributes base shear (VbV_b) across floors to calculate storey shear. ?? To help others grasp this method, I’ve shared an example of manual calculation of storey shear step-by-step! It includes the distribution of seismic forces along building heights, considering weights and heights of individual floors. ??
