Have you ever sent a follow-up message, only to feel like you're begging for attention? You're not alone. Most of us think of follow-ups as that last effort to get a sale, and it can feel awkward. But what if I told you the secret to follow-ups isn’t about the sale at all? It’s about the relationship. Here’s the thing: if you’re focused solely on closing the deal, you’re missing out on building something far more valuable—trust. Let me ask you this: when was the last time you bought something from someone you didn’t trust? Exactly. Follow-ups should feel like a conversation, not a transaction. So how do you make this shift? Swipe through the slides to find out ??. #JoyIfeoma

I can't be the only one guilty of this... ?? On a more serious note, I think this is one of our flaws as SE's, disengaging as soon as we close the deal. I know we are juggling a lot but I think this is somewhere we can improve ?? Deep relationships take time and pay dividends ?? More on this later this week... #ducklife #salesengineering #presales

When somebody calls your company and you pick up the phone. The person on the other end asks for Mr so and so and they don't work there anymore, don't we ask the person on the phone did you want to speak to the replacement? - Just curious asking for a friend LOL, #coldcalling #coldcalls #coldcalllife #business2business

Let’s talk about those deals that feel like they’re slipping away... I had one recently that went dark, and instead of bombarding them with emails, I just let it breathe. Sometimes people are just busy, right? A few weeks later, they circled back out of nowhere, and we picked up right where we left off. No pressure, no salesy nonsense – just a real convo about how we could help solve their problem. Not every deal is won by pushing harder. Sometimes, patience is the best move. #RealTalk #SalesLife #TechSales

Welcome back to SuperHuman Monday! (Um, Tuesday) ?? When I was hired at Solvvy, my initial manager was a man named Jerry Straw. ????♂? He was the head of sales but also spent a lot of time with the BDR’s Diane Elliott, Rick Johnson-Hernandez, and myself mentoring us and providing valuable, candid career advice. After being acquired by Zoom, Jerry was selected as the Head of Digital Customer Experience (Sales) for Zooms Contact Center. Its a big job, yet he still found the time to pour into me. ?? Jerry identified my skills and did everything he could to utilize them. ?? He knew I had a teaching background, podcasting and video editing experience, and so he tapped me to go beyond the BDR role and explore sales enablement and sales engineering. Once I chose the sales engineering path, Jerry did everything he could to get me trained and prepared for that future career path. Jerry did everything he could to leverage FOR his team, FOR his employees. ?? He was as straight a shooter as you will ever find in sales. ?? He’s absolutely one of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever encountered. Its amazing to me how he’s not the CRO of some Fortune 500 company. ?? Jerry is literally the definition of my belief that every problem you have as an organization can be solved by someone within it, they just need a seat at the right table. I’ve seen Jerry be vocal when others would be silent. ?? I’ve seen him show grace when others would fly off the handle. ?? Jerry is steady. He’s plain spoken. His career in sales started by someone identifying his love to help others. He can have a conversation with you about anything. He’s everything sales SHOULD be. ?? He’s literally the only leader that I’ve ever met where his people literally said things like, “Whatever happens, I trust Jerry.” “If Jerry were to ever leave, I’d leave.” “I have complete faith in Jerry.” ?? I used to ponder how we could trust our political leaders as much as Jerry’s employees trust him. ?? I’m pretty lucky because not many people get to move from one great leader to another. So much of what I see in Lindsay Saunders reminds me of Jerry. Money is great, but if you can work for a great leader, don’t pass it up. You’ll gain more in knowledge and because they’re a great leader, they will do everything to help you succeed and you’ll make more money because of them. Great leaders don’t enjoy going to the mountaintops alone. They want to see how many they can take with them. ??? Follow a leader like that!
