When do I need an Audit...?? A common occurrence in the land of start ups. You are a Founder or Executive of a Private Limited Company, and are achieving growth as part of your start up to scale up. Brilliant ? Turnover rises, employees grow, business is doing well. As a business, you may then take investment and so have a shareholder of more than 10% ?? Then either growth, or a request from a 10%+ shareholder, or both, you find you need to start having audited accounts. The general rule is that a company should have Audited Accounts if it meets two of the below criteria: > an annual turnover of more than ￡10.2 million > assets worth more than ￡5.1 million > 51+ employees on average Alternatively if a shareholder of 10% or more asks for this.
