Can only imagine the energy on those beaches. So many boys become men, so many lives were sacrificed and families change forever. Veterans are now about 6% of the US population down from 18-20% in the 80s (Pew 2022). Find a way to serve others, it will change your perspective on life. Military, volunteer, mentor, something that gives your time, energy and wisdom to others. Service truly gives you a level of pride and honor that is hard to replicate. I am not for mandatory "military" service, but I do find value in having everyone "serve" their community before 25: 1) Service humbles you and builds character 2) Service introduces you to true diversity and relationships 2) Service takes you out of your comfort zone and builds confidence 3) Service makes you feel authentic goodness and be healthier 4) Service give you perspective and learn to give and accept gratitude For this an many other reason, I intently choose to be a SERVANT leader.

I am not sure that I am qualified to speak on this subject, but I am more confused now than ever about America's Army's understanding of warfare in the coming decades and our role in it. Of course, SMA Weimer is a brilliant leader and normally, I would just defer to him and accept his analysis. But, the reality that I have been involved in over the last 40 years seem disconnected from what I'm hearing. Just 2 years ago, I would agree that yes, we need an Army of Armoured vehicles and multipurpose infantry; a navy of lethally manned ships and planes, and an Airforce of air superiority fighters and bombers, and so on. But my stepson, a corporal in the National Guard serving in Donetsk, can destroy more tanks, more fighter aircraft, more armoured vehicles, more ships with his drones made by other young boys and girls in basements while under fire, than the Russian Army can replace in a week. So, I'm caught between the growing realisation that, it's not just news, entertainment, banking, stock trading, etc that has become democratised by technology that is evolving faster than institutions can assimilate. Now, warfare is becoming democratised to where a kid with a computer, a toy drone, Semtex or homemade explosive material, can lob an explosive device into the hatch of an armoured vehicle before the crew even knows that they are exposed. I know that it's fashionable to say that America always prepares for the last war, not the next and I certainly do not have the answers, but, anytime a professional speaks with lots of certainty and confidence about how we will defeat the next enemy, I get really nervous. Right now, the Iranian and North Korean Regimes are operating with an "End of Days" psychological motivation, while the Kremlin Leader, Putin, publicly asserts that Europe and the World without a Russian Empire is not worth having... I just do not believe that our American military, diplomatic, and political leaders grasp the types of monster states that have evolved. God Bless America.
