There is no physical, installation or material difference between a convention ductless split air- conditioner and a heat pump. The three way valve and basic wiring are the only differences for installation and maintenance technicians. Considering locations where balance point is not an issue as is the case with many locations, Heat Pumps have major advantages over traditional air-conditioning designs.

??expansion joints?? ??Expansion Joints and Flexible Connectors on both the suction and discharge sides of the pump shall be used on all piping connected to rotating equipment to reduce noise and vibration transmission, and to eliminate stresses in piping systems due to misalignment and thermal movement of piping.

Expansion/ Flexible joints are very important to reduce the vibration and noise around rotating equipment. However, we should choose their material and pressure rating very wisely during purchasing phase especially if it would be subjected to direct sunlight in hot regions and made of rubber as usually there would be some cracks between the rubber material and the metal flange on both ends.

If you have unit that is fed by cold feed from tank and you faced that unit’s feed control valve’s opening reaches 100% at end of the tank for few hours till switching over the feed tank, you may have a solution which is decrease pressure of downstream feed surge drum through decrease set point of blanketing pressure controller this will help the control valve to relax its opening but you have to check the system hydraulically through checking the new NPSHA at drum low low level to be sure that it’s still higher than NPSHr+1 m for margin. Normally I think the system will be suitable under new conditions as the initial design shall neglect the operating pressure for design margin. What do you think?
