Find me a person who has never worked in hospitality. Everyone at some point or another has pulled a pint, waited tables, washed-up, worked a door, sold a ticket, promoted a gig, cleaned a venue, supervised a Sunday shift and or have braved the famous double or split shift. Where would you be now, had you not had the opportunity to cut your teeth in the world of work in the local pub, the bar at Uni, that gig venue that you had always dreamed of working at? Me and my team would like to add our voice to the campaign to reduce the hospitality burden to 10% VAT. With the world increasingly staring at screens instead of interacting, saving the businesses that keep our social spaces alive is vitally important. Not only to those who work within them, but also to the whole of society. What was your first job? Mine was as a KP in a restaurant when I was 15. Hard work and great times! https://lnkd.in/dDwWRN6A #reducehospitalityVATto10pc #VAT10pc #savehospitality #nationwidereduction #thisisforsociety #whatwasyourfirstjob #latenighteconomy #NTIA #ukgovernment #ukgov #uktreasury #jeremyhunt #rishisunak

"Hospitality is everything. When tourists come in, who is going to greet them? We are - the hospitality people. When someone has something to celebrate, who is going to help them do that? We are - the hospitality people." Gino D'Acampo hits the nail on the head on how important hospitality is to the UK ?? That's why we're calling on government to rebalance and reduce costs. Growing up I played peewee hockey. For every travel tournament north of NYC we stayed at a roadside hotel. And the one thing and only thing that mattered to me about the hotel selected… Waffles. Nothing pumped me up more than a DIY waffles machine on morning gameday. Turns out, I wasn’t alone. ———— Today, Hampton Inn has become the largest hotel chain in America — And it's thanks to their Waffle Strategy.... “free DIY waffles” are driving a record $10B in sales. As the WSJ put it, the Hampton Inn created a “cult” around its waffles — we consume 30M/year. But here's the surprise: 40 years ago, the hotel chain's executives said the “free waffles” strategy wouldn't work: Guests could get burned, they won’t want to make their own food, and carbs were cultural villains. But they were wrong… Turns out guests enjoyed making waffles, didn’t get burned, & loved pausing the Atkins on vacay. So today, the Hampton has become the largest hotel chain in America by revenue — And it's all thanks to a waffle iron. ?? Have the instinct to go against your instincts. And have waffles for breakfast. (Pro Tip: If you add blueberries, it cancels out the chocolate chips) #marketing #businessinsight

My 3-year-old son loves salmon. Kind of. I asked him this weekend if he wanted salmon for dinner. He said yes immediately. I cooked him some salmon. He didn't eat any of it. When designing your hotel ancillary products, think about it this way: Offer products and options your guests will truly want during their specific stay. Don't just offer what sounds good in theory. Offer what your guests truly want during their stay. It's all about delivering what they really want, not what you think they should want, or what they might superficially claim they want. #RevenueManagement #AncillaryRevenue #Hospitality

There was a big Scandal this weekend in #Montreal that took place between the #Restaurant #Owners & The #Munipality / Fire department local authorities that showed up at the last minute during #Peaktime of operations and just before the #Kickoff of the #F1 #Weekend over setting outdoor terraces that are covered as the city is expecting rain over the city's busiest weekend of the year! The Point is that these restaurants have applied for permits & have invested thousands of dollars for this setting which is the same every year over the F1 weekend and is nothing new. This year and as stated above, at the peak time of evening operations and before the guests start arriving, the fire department has asked all restaurant owners to shut down these terraces stating that they are non-compliant with the fire safety rules! I want to pretend that the Fire department and local authorities are correct from their "Perspective", but from a #Hospitality #Tourism & A #Greaterbenefit for the #City and the #Country #Canada shall we ask if the following questions are valid : 1- Why other local authorities / Departments do give any permits instead of asking the #Restaurateurs to get an initial permit before all from the Fire department? 2- Considering the importance of tourism & As a means of support to this Sector that has suffered more than any other sector during the Covid and still, why the local authorities don't simply have a duty team that supervises the operations of those specific streets where this set up has taken place and simply see the people enjoying what the city has to offer and at the end this would be a #Success for the whole city ! 3 Why these authorities don't show up the first thing in the morning -If this decision is a must - to allow enough time for the restaurateurs to call and cancel their respective #Customers bookings? 4-Doesn't these businesses deserve a kind of #Compensation? Especially that the notices weren't given 24 or 48 hrs. in advance? Last but not least, the #Formulaone event is a very special #International event where many #Regulations should be at ease in order to maximize the benefits of hosting such an event in the city! Additionally, this type of event should be coordinated between the #Associationofrestaurants and the #Localauthorities #Municipality in advance and a better coordination between all of these parties is a must no doubt!
