What does dumpster diving have to do with the debate against whaling? Have a look ?? Endless bags of good food being thrown out, while we argue whether or not toxic whale meat serves as a needed food source. Spoiler: It really doesn't. And we love how our crew have found such a brilliant way to raise the issue. All the food that is retrieved is offered back for free to those who want it. In all the way that counts, this leaves a positive impact on the community. Pro-whaler locals argue that without the hunt, the Faroese would need to import more food, leading to increased pollution and unsustainability. The reality? The grindadráp only results in more imported food being wasted, as supermarkets don’t adjust their stock based on the whale killings. Food is imported regardless of hunts. Acknowledging this could spark a real debate about the need to hunt whales and dolphins. With supermarkets tossing out food daily, isn’t it time to reconsider whaling?
