The GLOCK GmbH X terminology has always seemed a bit funky to me, but doesn't stop the 43X from being one of the company's most popular pistols. For those of us reared on Glock's more traditional line, it's about the same length as a 26 but with a somewhat longer 19-ish sized grip (the "crossover" part), and it's narrower all around (the "slimline" part). It's interesting that the de facto configuration now includes an optics cut (MOS in Glock-speak), which is du rigueur on compact carry pistols of any standing now. I don't run glass on most of my pistols, but I also don't begrudge those that do ... and my Gen4 G17 range gun has an Aimpoint, Inc. ACRO P-1 on it that has given solid service for some years now. Despite the 43X's quasi-newness (it turns 5 this July), it's still incredibly familiar to old school Glockphiles. It field strips like every other brickgun. The trigger housing and trigger spring are a bit different than the old S-shaped coil spring, but it only takes about 30 seconds to figure out the differences. I expect it'll feel like every other Glock in my stable, but I'm still looking forward to some range time with this ... and some side-by-side comparison to the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield and the SIG SAUER, Inc. P365. #glock #glock43x #glock43xmos #9mmammo #9mmluger #sig #sigp365 #smithwesson #smithandwesson #mpshield #rangetime #pewpew #pewpewpewchallenge

Armored Electric Vehicles for Law Enforcement: Challenges and Solutions with TruArmor When considering armored electric vehicles (EVs) for law enforcement, departments face a significant challenge: weight. The typical AR500 armor plate can weigh between 20-50 lbs per square foot, dramatically impacting EVs' range and performance. For instance: Under optimal conditions, standard electric trucks like the Cybertruck or Silverado EV might achieve about 400 miles on a full charge. However, adding armor to these vehicles can add around 6000 lbs, significantly reducing the?range by about 10% per 1000 lbs added. In rural or hilly areas like Northern Idaho, with sparse charging infrastructure, this reduction makes long shifts or pursuits particularly challenging, potentially leading to critical situations where the vehicle might not return safely. Current EV Armoring Challenges: Range Reduction: Armored EVs currently offer a range of 100-200 miles, which might cover the daily mileage of a State Trooper but leaves little margin for high-speed chases or unexpected detours. ·????????Increased Costs: The added weight leads to: ·????????Higher wear and tear on tires, suspension, and brakes. ·????????Safety concerns like increased roll-over risks. ·????????Compromised fuel efficiency or electric range. Introducing TruArmor - A Game Changer: ·????????TruArmor offers an innovative solution with the lightest vehicle armor available: ·????????Weight Reduction: Increases vehicle weight by less than 400 lbs, significantly less than traditional armor. ·????????Actual Weight: Depending on coverage, around 1 lb per sq ft. ·????????Sustainable Materials: Environmentally friendly and can be transferred between service vehicles, reducing waste. ·????????Quick Installation: Under a day in service shops, compared to weeks with other vendors. ·????????Cost-Effective: Less expensive than traditional AR500 armor. ·????????https://lnkd.in/eB8vBSC8 Beyond these features, TruArmor provides competitive pricing, warranty, and various protection levels, making it an ideal choice for departments aiming to enhance officer safety without compromising vehicle performance. In 1857,?Smith & Wesson?made four revolvers. This is the only known survivor from that year. S&W was founded in November of 1856. Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson had assembled one prototype of the Model 1 revolver at that point, and they founded the company to produce that little gun. Most of 1857 was spent building out the shop that would make these revolvers, which included procuring the custom tooling that was needed to make the 40-odd parts that went into each gun. Because the gun was still in the prototype stage, 1857's production was limited to just four revolvers. By the end of the year they believed that they had found the winning formula, and this exact gun—serial number 5—was sent to the American Machine Works in Springfield as a tool room prototype for the final tooling that was needed to start mass-producing these guns. #smithwesson?#smithandwesson #smithandwessonpartner?#history #historyoftechnology?#22rimfire?#oldgun?#oldguns?#antiquegun?#antiqueguns #model1?#modelone?#prototype
