We often don't realize the value of a mentor until we have one and can reflect on times when we didn’t. A business mentor provides us with various benefits. By prioritizing their guidance on our needs, industry trends, and important considerations, we gain a sense of confidence. A business mentor helps us see that every moment presents an opportunity to operate or redefine our business on our own terms. They encourage us to overcome our hesitations and to either fully commit or to take small, measured steps. A business mentor emphasizes that the time to start is now and reassures us that beginning small and growing at our own pace is perfectly acceptable. Lastly, they remind us that perfection is a myth and that we should focus on progress rather than perfection.
“You don't have to pay somebody a monthly fee. You just work with people who have been there and done it. It's amazing that people like that just want to help us.” Meet Peter and Katie, owners of Swallow Ridge Farm, and learn how their SCORE mentor has helped them thrive in today’s ALL NEW success story! ???? #SOARwithSCORE?

????Probreed’s Creed: Longevity Leads, Young Flock Succeeds! ???? The headline’s application across flocks is largely dependent on what your end goal is, and can be impacted by events like drought or building flock size. A “model” we like keeps ewes to 6.5 years. In that scenario the flock works hard to reward ewes that perform.?#FlockWaste?#RewardTheHighPerformers?#ProBreed

Let's play! If we could swap out Phe’s special superpower for something new, what do you think it should be? ???? Would you give her the ability to time travel, control the weather, or maybe even talk to animals? ???? I’d love to hear your ideas! This is an interesting and quite thought-provoking video. Thank you Neil, for your great effort into filming our water friends. Members of the Phryganeidae are known to be shredder-herbivores or engulfer predators. In some genera, the predatory stage only occurs in late instar larvae. While most studies on aquatic macroinvertebrate functional feeding guilds (FFGs) have been based on gut content analysis, emerging studies are attempting to maximize the advantage of technological advancement to study and provide evidence-based results on the actually observed feeding habits of these critters either in the wild or in the lab. In the case of this reel, the larva of this Giant Cased Caddisfly with admirable mandibles is first observed to shred plant materials, and again observed attempting to devour an animal identified as an odonate naiad. This leaves much to be ruminated upon, such as whether or not the death of the dragonfly was caused by the caddisfly, or whether it was only attempting to feed on a carcass it came across. That would also lead to the question of what in the water would have killed a dragonfly but not a caddisfly. It would be such an interesting study to attempt to closely observe and monitor the two species in this habitat, identify both, and determine the actual feeding habit, based on field observations. Higgins (1998)'s explanation of the family would be a great place to begin with understanding their biology, and attempting to nail the identification, based on the type of habitat found. In our part of the world (West Africa), a closely related family (relatively), the Leptoceridae, is known to contain representatives of so many variations of FFGs (from shredders, collectors, scrapers to predators) at generic and species level, but again, the predators are engulfers. Engulfing predators often consume animals smaller than them, and small enough to be swallowed nearly whole. So, this video of our beautiful friend taking on the mighty apex predator in the aquatic insect world (dragonflies) is therefore really thought-provoking. Well done!
While filming Caddisfly larva for my latest pond dip video (which takes place at John Little's amazing site) I noticed one eating what I thought was some plant material - turns out it was a Dragonfly nymph! You can watch it in full quality in the full video here: https://lnkd.in/e8cfWSTD
