?? Can Video Games leads to Violence and crimes ?? Have you ever blamed video games for real-world violence? Or maybe heard someone else do it? Well, the truth might surprise you. The American Psychological Association (APA) says there’s no solid evidence linking violent games to violent behavior. ?? Numerous studies have challenged the belief that video games inherently cause violence An analysis of 17,000 participants from 2010 to 2017 revealed that violent video games might increase physical aggression in individuals……But here's the twist: while aggression might increase, it doesn’t necessarily lead to violent acts. Researchers identified two key effects: 1??Behavioral Effect: Violent games might spark aggression, but only temporarily. 2??Incapacitation Effect: Gamers stay busy playing, which keeps them off the streets and out of trouble. (When gamers stay engaged, crime rates drop) ?? When the incapacitation effect outweighs the behavioral effect, crime rates drop. ?? When both effects are equal, there’s no change. ?? Think of teenagers immersed in a football tournament or tuition classes or any other structured activities that prevent them from engaging in harmful behaviors Violent or not, many games are engineered to be addictive. They trigger brain responses similar to substance addiction, leading to Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) ??. It’s not video games…..it’s unemployment, inequality, poor policing, and exposure to violence. ?? Banning games isn’t the solution. Tackling root causes and addressing socio-economic issues, and managing gaming addiction responsibly. So, what do you think? Let’s talk in the comments! ?? #VideoGames #Violence #Crime #Mentalhealth #Psychology #Addiction #Internetgamingdisorder #SocialIssues #HumanBehavior #Research #APA

Rahul M jain - this is a big topic and a fantastic post. I believe in your statement, "it's unemployment, inequality, poor policing, exposure to violence...." along with a myriad of social maladies, resulting in psychological mayhem. Aggression occurs with competitiveness, right? We tend to seek outside of ourselves for "what's wrong" instead of looking in the mirror - so it's not surprising that we use gaming as an excuse for poor behavior, hatred, of course with consideration to those needing (and who should receive) help getting through that darkness. I edited my last sentence due to sensitivity for LI - thank you for the post!

What I find interesting is how gaming can actually have a protective effect in some ways, keeping people engaged and less likely to get involved in real-life trouble.?However it is still about balance and understanding the bigger picture, which includes how we approach gaming addiction as well.
