Dear Connections, I'm thrilled to share that I've successfully completed my internship at the Office of Member of Parliament, Honorable Shri Sujeet Sir. This experience has been incredibly enlightening, particularly as I made the transition from a Mathematics background to Economics. Having pursued my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, I initially lacked awareness of the nuanced considerations involved in the social and policy sectors. This internship has been instrumental in broadening my perspective and deepening my understanding of these crucial areas. During my internship, I had the privilege of delving into diverse policy segments, conducting rigorous research to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of existing policies in areas such as rural development and education. One of the most impactful aspects of my internship was formulating parliamentary questions for the Budget Session of Parliament. Crafting these questions demanded a deep understanding of policy intricacies and a keen awareness of current socio-economic problems. This experience equipped me with valuable insights into the Indian policy landscape and economic infrastructure. Additionally, I was actively involved in drafting speech pointers for important panel discussions, where I contributed to shaping the narrative and advocating for impactful policy measures. This hands-on experience not only refined my communication skills but also deepened my understanding of policy formulation and advocacy. I am deeply grateful for the mentorship provided by Pritika Ma'am and Sunil Sir, whose guidance was instrumental in honing my skills and fostering my passion for policy research. This internship has ignited a strong desire within me to continue contributing to transformative policy initiatives that drive positive change and make a meaningful impact on society. Celebrating Our Students: Prateek Pawar's Insights from Lokniti-CSDS ?? Prateek Pawar recently completed a transformative summer internship with Lokniti-CSDS - Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, contributing to the ‘National Election Survey’ project. This experience focused on examining electoral patterns and voting behaviour across India, shaping insights based on the outcomes. Prateek's responsibilities included data collection and analysis related to candidates in the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A significant highlight of Prateek Pawar’s internship was having his article on third-party campaigners and political advertisement spending published in The Hindu Newspaper on May 30, 2024. Additionally, he conducted a post-poll survey, managing an average of nine daily interviews using an extensive 65-question questionnaire to capture citizens' views on state and central governments. The internship allowed Prateek Pawar to bridge theory with practice. His understanding of Public Policy: Theories and Processes enabled him to comprehend the real-world workings of government schemes and public engagement. Lessons from Social Justice and Social Exclusion (SJSE) provided deeper insight into caste dynamics, enriching his perspective on marginalized communities. Sailing from the Past into Policy!! As a student who has always been immersed in the subjects of history, heritage, and archaeology—studying ancient artifacts and cultural legacies—I never imagined that I could navigate the rigorous interviews of esteemed organizations like the Centre for Policy Research; India Foundation; Centre for Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) India; IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute; and the National Centre for Good Governance besides also qualifying for 2 Parliamentary Internships. While my applications were driven by my interest in cultural advocacy, I found myself applying the same curiosity, critical thinking, and research skills that I use to unearth the past, to engage with complex discussions on policy-making and governance. These interviews became an exploration of how seemingly distant fields intersect, where the ability to analyze societal structures and adapt to interdisciplinary challenges made all the difference. Key takeaways from my journey: 1. Be open to exploring unconventional paths 2. Build a strong foundation in research and analysis 3. Network and seek guidance from people already working in the field 4. Tailor your applications to showcase relevant skills and experiences, and your willingness to leave an impact This experience not only led to a realisation of how the intersections between cultural advocacy and public policy is often overlooked by most students in my field, it also reaffirmed my belief that no field of study is too confined to create broader impacts. Sometimes, all it takes is the courage to step out of your comfort zone and let your unique perspective shine. P.s. I have started an internship at Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien | Georg-Eckert-Institut as part of my studies at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. The institute focuses on educational media used in schools—specifically, how these materials are created, what they contain, and how they are used within societal, political, economic, and historical contexts. I consider this a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of how educational tools shape social and cultural narratives while gaining practical experience in research.

I recently had the privilege of interning with Neeti Varta Policy, an experience that has profoundly impacted my academic and research journey. The internship offered a deep dive into policy analysis and data-driven research, exposing me to pressing societal issues such as governance, education, and sustainability. One of the most enriching aspects of the internship was the focus on data-driven decision-making.
