Showcase Project - Private House Flynn Mews Although the city of Dublin is lowrise and low-density by European standards, much of its city centre is comprised of large, grand houses facing grand streets or squares such as Merrion Square or Pembroke Road. While presenting a grand front to the public, the rear of these houses was reserved for service access, deliveries, and coach and mews houses for servants along cobbled and paved lanes. Since the 1980s, and especially in recent boom-time years, these mews and coach houses built in the back gardens have been converted, demolished and rebuilt by some of Ireland’s best architects. Attention to detail - does any job description these days NOT include that line? And what does it really mean? To me, it means the meticulous care that went into the renovation that Zerr Berg Architects & Gehrtz Construction Services just completed at a local church. During design we realized that the new support pillars were going to cover up some of the existing stained glass and we made the intentional decision to approach that issue head-on. We found skilled masons to remove the stained glass and stone, expertly cut it down and re-craft it to fit the new dimensions and re-install it with such care and craft that you would never know it was done. This not only had to make sense in the new common spaces, it also had to blend in the existing sanctuary on the other side of the windows. A detail that when completed, is a seamless part of the new spaces, but was done with immense attention to detail. Good design truly is invisible, and it's all in the details!

On the set day for our MODERN MODULAR Stone Ridge Residence in the Catskills, the set crew arrived at 7am to begin preparations, and the crane was setup by by 8:30am. The four boxes were delivered to a staging area near the site the day before. The first box was lifted at 9:30 am, and the last one was placed at 12:30 pm. The entire setting process was completed in just 3 hours with a small, but very efficient crew. With modular construction, the building time is significantly reduced compared to traditional methods. The house is expected to be completed within the next four months, by early fall. Unconventional architecture requires unique formwork concepts, posing a challenge that we gladly accepted, with the construction of the tallest building in Germany used exclusively for residential purposes: the Grand Tower in Frankfurt am Main. ?? ??? The construction of the 180-metre high building brought with it a multitude of challenges. For example, the ambitious, diamond-shaped floor plan changes from storey to storey. Instead of repeating the layout of the flats on each floor and placing the flat entrances one above the other, the architects opted for different floor plans that alternate according to a predefined pattern. The solution provided by our formwork experts: The building core was constructed independently of the residential units with their varying floor plans. Over the past 5 months, we've transformed an existing house into a beautifully modernized home, seamlessly integrating new additions with the original structure. Month 04: Completed internal openings with structural steels and plasterboarding, and made external openings for picture windows and bifolding doors. It’s exciting to see the final prefabricated insulated timber frame panels going in at East Oxford Community centre! Now we’re based nearer the site, we had 360 degree coverage of the panels going in and could appreciate just how fast they were getting on the roof. Next will be the tidying up of taping up the Smartply OSB airtightness boards internally and sealing the weathertight breather membrane externally before external finishes start. A big benefit of offsite timber frame is that it is also able to weather the crazy rain recently for a few months while external finishes are applied, and quickly get a roof on the building to allow internal works. ? The commercial development at 130 Parry Street, Newcastle West, was designed by BKA Architecture, constructed by North Construction & Building Pty Ltd, and fabricated by PCW Commercial Windows to serve as the head office for the Cutcher & Neale accountancy practice. The aim was to create contemporary offices augmented with cutting-edge technologies. Capral's Architectural Series was pivotal in ensuring the building's design integrity, sustainability, and functionality.
