Can the All Blacks hold onto the Raeburn Shield? Or will France take it for the north and try to keep it for the Six Nations in 2025? The Shield’s up for grabs again, and it’s all on the line at Stade de France this week. Historically, the All Blacks have the edge in Raeburn Shield clashes against France, winning 14 of their 19 Shield encounters. Across those match-ups, New Zealand has racked up 389 points to France’s 229. But here’s the twist—France has claimed victory four times, proving they’ve got what it takes to take the Shield north. In fact, the last time France held the Raeburn Shield was back in 2009, when they stunned New Zealand in Dunedin. Now, 15 years later, they’re looking to make history again and bring the Shield back to French soil. Who’s got the edge? The All Blacks have Beauden Barrett back at 10, with Codie Taylor starting at hooker, adding depth and experience. France, however, is ready to unleash some flair, with Romain Buros making his debut at fullback. Will the All Blacks’ strong historical edge and experience see them through, or will the passionate home crowd push France to reclaim the Shield for the first time since 2009? Why does this matter? The Raeburn Shield isn’t just a trophy—it’s rugby’s lineage, passed down from game to game since 1871. There’s no ranking or committee behind it—just the result on the field. Every match is a chance to add to a tradition that stretches back over 150 years, creating another chapter in rugby’s story. So, can the All Blacks keep it in the Southern Hemisphere? Or will France reclaim the Shield, setting up a Six Nations for the ages? Either way, it’s going to be a classic. Follow the Raeburn Shield and be part of rugby history.

## England's Path to Glory: Dispelling the Myth of an "Easy Draw" As we bask in the glow of England's hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Netherlands, it's time to address the naysayers who claimed our Three Lions had an "easy draw" in Euro 2024. This triumph serves as a powerful reminder that there are no easy matches at this level of international football. Gareth Southgate himself dismissed these notions, stating that such talk shows "a sense of entitlement" that only serves to annoy other nations. He's absolutely right. Every team that reaches the knockout stages of a major tournament is there on merit, and each match presents its own unique challenges. Let's look at the facts: 1. **Formidable opponents**: The Netherlands, ranked 7th in the world, were our toughest challenge . This was no walk in the park. 2. **Historical perspective**: England has never reached a final outside of Wembley, and we've only had two finals in our entire history. This journey is anything but easy. 3. **Player insights**: Marc Guéhi, one of our standout performers, emphasized that "there is no favourable side of the draw" in this competition. 4. **Psychological edge**: Harry Kane highlighted the "aura" our team has developed through consistent performances in recent tournaments. This speaks to the respect we've earned, not an easy path. Our captain, Harry Kane, summed it up perfectly: "Step by step, you grow into the tournament but we still haven't reached the full potential that you've seen for several years now. This is a team that's battling hard, improving with each match, and facing every challenge head-on. As we look forward to the final, let's appreciate the grit, determination, and skill that have brought us this far. Easy draw? Far from it. This is the result of years of hard work, tactical brilliance from Southgate, and the unwavering spirit of our Three Lions. Come on England! Let's bring it home! ?????????????????? #Euro2024 #ThreeLions #ItsComingHomeo

SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP - SUPER SATURDAY After an extremely eventful and enjoyable tournament, we approach the fifth and final weekend of the 2024 Six Nations Championship. This Saturday is referred to as ‘Super Saturday', the last round of the Six Nations championship when all of the teams play on the same day. The first match is Wales versus Italy which will begin at 2:15pm, the second match is Ireland v Scotland at 4:45pm, and the last match of Super Saturday is France v England, starting at 8pm. After England's amazing win over Ireland last Saturday at Twickenham, the battle for the 2024 Six Nations is finely poised. Ireland who are top of the table remain favourites to retain the championship however it's still mathematically possible for England to be crowned champions. For England to have a chance they need Ireland to lose at home, something which hasn't happened in more than three years. Even if Ireland lose, they could still claim the title if they secure a losing bonus point and score four tries. If Ireland don't pick up a bonus point, England will be crowned champions if they beat France and score four or more tries in the process. At the other end of the table, will Wales avoid the Wooden Spoon? Having lost all four games, Wales currently sit bottom of the table, four points behind Italy. If Italy win or draw they will finish above Wales. If Italy lose, Wales either need to win and better Italy in terms of bonus points, or match their bonus points and win by more than five points. We have a thrilling ‘Super Saturday' ahead! #blog #rugby #sixnations #sixnationsrugby #estateagents

How the hell do they do this?! ?? Last Saturday, Real Madrid were lucky to leave for the break at 0-0 in the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley against Borussia Dortmund. Forty-five minutes later they won their ninth straight UCL final taking their all-time tally to 15 titles. ?? Despite approaching the match as heavy underdogs at 17/4 odds (4.75), Dortmund were the better side in the first half and had four scoring changes through Karim Adeyemi, Niclas Füllkrug who hit the far post on 23 minutes, and Marcel Sabitzer whose long-range effort was parried by Thibaut Courtois. Madrid were vulnerable to Dortmund's through-balls into the final third and rarely threatened until Carlo Ancelotti made adjustments after the break moving Federico Valverde inside. This helped his team to find a better balance, both in possession play and defensively. Eventually, Dortmund lost the ball in their own half and conceded a corner – have you ever noticed that it's the soft ones that usually kill you, not the hard-fought ones? – before Toni Kroos, making his last club career appearance, crossed for Dani Carvajal to head the ball home. Nine minutes later, Vinícius Júnior added a second after another cheap mistake. Sounds like just another match summary, you might say, nothing special. Indeed. It would have been nothing special if it was a one-off gig, an occasion. But no. Madrid have been doing this since 1997/98. Hence the question. How the hell do they do this?! https://lnkd.in/dxkNNhJd ?? #MightyTips #RealMadrid

This weekend has highlighted why not having relegation is compromising the sporting integrity of Premiership Rugby. Northampton Saints record demolition of Gloucester Rugby meant one of the best run-ins to seal a top-4 place gave #Saints a guaranteed home semi-final without the opposition throwing a punch, while all the others in the chase had to put themselves highly competitive games. #Gloucester made 12 changes from their European Challenge Cup semi-final win against Benetton Rugby Treviso last week. It could be rightly argued that #Northampton would have achieved the same result even if they were up against a full-strength Gloucester Team but that's not the point. After not getting anywhere in England's top League, Gloucester have come out quite honestly saying that they are targeting silverware in the #ChallengeCup at the expense of their Premiership performance. In another match, with no risk of relegation Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, to their credit, gave it a fair go against Bath Rugby coming out with a 17-28 home loss. For those not aware that was the Falcon's 17th loss from the 17 games played this season pipping Gloucester by quite a margin as the #Premiership whipping boys. The good, or bad news, depending on how you look at it is that #Newcastle plays #Gloucester next week in the last game of the campaign. In the #Championship, we have Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club on the cusp of another title. It is expected that next season's promotion and relegation between the #Premiership and #Championship will revert to being, on an annual one-up, one-down basis. However, with caveats around facilities, etc. and with the Premiership ownership structure where 73% is owned by the incumbent clubs (the other 27% by CVC Capital Partners), I'm not holding my breath for turkeys voting for Christmas and letting an ambitious club like #Ealing get the chance they deserve. Therefore, we might expect similar compromised games at the end of future seasons. #Rugby #PremiershipRugby #EnglandRugby England Rugby World Rugby European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR)
