Dear LinkedIn community, I am delighted to share Part II of our recently published journal paper in IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation https://bit.ly/3ZvWBhN, which is the result of a joint collaboration between Deutsche Telekom, Sykno GmbH, and Ericsson. During the introduction of the directional EMF power-lock feature in Deutsche Telekom’s network, an extensive measurement campaign was conducted. The in-situ measurements used a time-synchronized setup developed by Sykno, which provides detailed insights into the performance of the directional EMF power-lock feature. In addition, network counter data were collected over 87 cells before and after swapping from the previous “cell-wide” to the new directional feature. The results confirm that the directional feature has almost no impact on the network performance in urban deployment scenarios. Don′t hesitate to read this paper, which is revelant for the international EMF-community, including mobile network operators and regulators. Eye opening! What a great presentation by Monisha Ghosh at the closing ceremony of IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS). Is the first time I see statistics on the use of frequency bands based on real measurements. https://lnkd.in/d99eGSwh Thanks for the great take-aways of the talk, very relevant for European Commission Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) projects like TERA6G Project. Briefly summarizing: We need to make smart choices in the use of the spectrum. Regarding 6G, aim at spectrum-sharing native, using mid-band technologies for the wide-area, mobile coverage and consider higher frequencies for niche, stationary, use cases. At the end, there is a limited data a individual can consume on a mobile terminal, isn't it?

The introduction of LoRa chipsets operating in the 2.4 GHz band paves the way to unprecedented performance enhancements compared to their sub-GHz counterparts, attributed to factors such as the absence of duty cycle constraints and higher data rates. Despite its potential benefits for Internet of Thing applications, the LoRa Alliance has not yet proposed the integration of this new frequency spectrum into the LoRaWAN standard.
