??? RecTour Challenge ??? As part of the RecTour workshop, the RecTour 2024 Challenge organized by Booking.com is set to take place! ???? This year's Workshop on Recommenders in Tourism (RecTour) 2024, co-organized by the CD Lab for Recommender Systems and held in conjunction with ACM RecSys, features this highly anticipated challenge. ?? The challenge focuses on the crucial aspect of ranking reviews, which significantly influences users' decision-making. ?? While the most straightforward way to rank reviews is by review scores or time ?, an alternative approach would be to rank them based on “helpfulness” votes ??. However, many reviews do not receive these votes, leading to presentation bias. In this challenge, participants will match given accommodations and users to their respective review IDs. ????? The idea is to analyze the accommodation a new user is viewing, along with user features (e.g., couple, country, etc.), to display reviews in an order that considers the review content with respect to user and accommodation characteristics. ????? To support this effort, Booking.com is providing a unique training dataset containing 1.6 million reviews based on real anonymized bookings. ???? The more we travel the more we are weaving AI in to our lives, honestly it’s become a life saver (not literally, well not yet) in our family’s travels. From simplifying public transport to finding kid friendly activities in local areas, GPT has been useful every step of the way. For example, thinking back to Venice, the boat routes were a challenge. But with GPT’s help it told us where to go and when I was not 100% sure we were at the correct stop I took a photo of the stop and asked if I was in the correct place, it’s quick reply: ‘Yes, this is the right line to wait at.’ Really gave me confidence and it was spot on every time! It also gave us step by step directions, timetables, and the number of stops and what to look out for when we got off, all things Google Maps cannot articulate. Each day, we are finding new ways AI can make life on the road easier, whether it’s navigating transport or translating a menu. Leading the way

This articles hits the spot about hotel tech. As we move further into the digital age, it's clear that many industries are rapidly evolving, but hotel technology seems to be lagging behind. Despite significant advances in other sectors, hotel tech remains relatively primitive and unprepared for the transformative potential of AI. The Current State of Hotel Technology: 1) Outdated systems for reservations, check-ins, and guest services. These legacy systems are often fragmented. Some high end exclusive travel are still using manual email for booking / reservation confirmations. 2) Lack of Personalisation - most 5 stars property rooms and suites looks and feels the same, difference is probably styling. What hotels should focus on is answering the question "How can I make every guest special?" 3) Eliminating manual operational process - An example such as revenue management, fact is no humans can compute and analyse price data and predict better than computers.
