In the opening remarks at Southeast Acquirers Association one panelist encapsulated a timeless truth with simple wisdom: "Take the crawl > walk > run approach and be something to someone; you cannot be the best for everyone." This approach, akin to the natural progression of growth, reminds us that success is a journey, not a race. It begins with a crawl—those tentative first steps filled with learning and exploration. As we gain confidence and understanding, we walk, steadily building our momentum. Finally, with experience and knowledge, we run, embracing our full potential. Yet, equally important is the second part of the message: "Be something to someone." In a world where we are constantly bombarded with the pressure to excel universally, this advice is grounding. It encourages us to find our niche, to identify and serve our specific audience with dedication and excellence. We cannot be everything to everyone, but we can be invaluable to someone. This dual focus on gradual growth and targeted excellence is a powerful strategy for both personal and professional success.
