Navigating the Future: Safety First! The theme for World Maritime Day 2024 is "Navigating the Future: Safety First!". This theme and emphasises the International Maritime Organization's (#IMO) ongoing commitment to enhancing maritime safety and security while also protecting the marine environment.

Happy World Maritime Day!! Maritime Safety has been a primary concern since time immemorial. The formation and implementation of the SOLAS & ISM has neither been easy nor profound. As we continuously strive towards improvement of Safety Culture onboard and reducing accidents and incidents, let us endeavour to embrace the idea that the word 'Safety' takes precedence over absolutely everything else, and the word 'Life' is not confined to humans but encompasses all other lifeforms across ecosystems that are impacted by shipping. #safetyfirst #maritimesafety

Happy World Maritime Day! This year’s theme “Navigating the future: Safety first!” recognizes that safety remains paramount. 'The IMO is celebrating World Maritime Day on 26 September by highlighting the importance of safety at sea in an era of significant transformations and new risks and 50 years since the adoption of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). SOLAS was first adopted in 1914, in response to the Titanic disaster. It is widely recognized as the most important international treaty on maritime safety. The Convention in force today was adopted on November 1, 1974. It contains 15 chapters covering key topics, such as life-saving appliances and arrangements, distress and safety communications and carriage of dangerous goods and many more.' #worldmaritimeday #safetyatsea #safetyfirst #IMO
