A suite of new smart assistive technology and artificial intelligence is being trialled within adult social care in St Helens borough. A tech enabled hub has been created at Brookfield Support Centre to showcase some of the technology will which help improve mobility and support people living with dementia, as well as reduce falls and social isolation. The assistive technology showcased within the hub are examples of things that can be easily implemented within someone’s home. It forms part of our new practice model, which aims to put people at the centre of their care and use new and innovative ways to help people live independently at home for longer. The ‘reablement – home first’ approach focuses on empowering individuals who may have had a spell in hospital to regain the confidence to perform everyday tasks for themselves. My role was to help these incredible individuals install Care Daily's smart home apps, sensors, and devices so researchers at University of California, Berkeley study the impact of AI Care Services for the National Institute on Aging (NIA) At first glance, it might sound like a simple job—but these caregivers were already facing immense challenges. They were caring for spouses or loved ones diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment or Alzheimer’s, balancing their caregiving duties with emotional and physical exhaustion. Despite everything, many of them partnered with us, hoping our solutions could ease their burden. The project aimed to reduce anxiety, combat isolation, and provide caregivers with the peace of mind they desperately needed—and the results were truly fascinating. But this story isn’t just about gadgets or AI—it’s about family, caregiving, and resilience. For me, this journey starts with my own family in Arizona, and I’m excited to bring this story to life through film. ?? Join us in making this important project a reality. Family Caregivers - The Heroes Behind Dementia Battles For the past three years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with families navigating the challenges of installing gadgets around their homes while taking care of family members diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s . As part of a groundbreaking collaboration between Care Daily and University of California, Berkeley, supported by a grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) on Aging, we studied how Agetech technology can assist caregivers and improve their lives. The stories I heard during this journey left a big impact on me—the resilience of caregivers, the emotional and physical toll they endure, and the lack of resources available to support them. These unsung heroes inspired me to create a documentary that sheds light on their struggles and explores how Artificial Intelligence can be a huge help in providing meaningful assistance and enhancing caregiving. ??
