Coffee ? conversations ?? connections ?? and #robots ?? - we had it all at November's Coffee at Convergence this morning! A big thank you to Aniket Bera from the IDEAS Lab at Purdue Computer Science and his robotic canine companion, Aura, for joining us! Bera shared insights into how intelligent robots are collaborating with humans in homes, farms, and various workspaces. We ended the morning on a high note with some fun interactions with Aura! ?? WEEKEND EDITION: With the 2024 Kentucky Derby approaching, we reflect on a notable moment from 2016 when Unanimous A.I. used swarm intelligence to accurately predict the Kentucky Derby superfecta, resulting in a significant payout of $541.10 from just a $1 bet. Despite challenges in 2017, the advancements in swarm AI over the past seven years highlight its broad applications in fields such as robotics, supply chain management, urban planning, telecommunications, healthcare, finance, and energy systems. #KentuckyDerby #AI #BusinessInnovation #TechTrends

The concept of cybernetics originated in the mid-20th century, pioneered by visionary scientists like Norbert Wiener and Warren McCulloch. They envisioned a field that explored the shared principles of control and communication in both living organisms and machines. At its core, cybernetics is about understanding and designing systems that exhibit feedback loops, allowing them to learn, adapt, and self-regulate. This applies to both natural and artificial systems, from the intricate workings of the human brain to the sophisticated algorithms driving robots. The most intriguing aspect of cybernetics lies in its potential to bridge the gap between humans and machines. Imagine cyborgs with enhanced physical and cognitive abilities, blurring the lines between what it means to be human and what it means to be a machine. #robotics #networkscience #deeptech #innovación

If the robot uprising happens this week, it might be my fault. The Avnet Embedded booth at embedded world Exhibition&Conference is packed full of AI and machine vision demos, including this Universal Robots demo in collaboration with Intel Corporation, which I'm doing my best to annoy. ?? See you at the show! #ai #cobotics #ew24 #machinevision

?? For episode four of our series on the history of thinking about thinking machines, David and Shannon discuss a very different sci-fi sensibility: Becky Chambers’ Monk & Robot series (A Psalm for the Wild-Built (2021) and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy (2022)). What would it mean for robots to ‘wake up’? How might robots teach humans about the nature of care and about the care of nature? And where do robots fit into a neurodiverse world? Plus: robots vs octopi. https://lnkd.in/dKfTb3Vg

Can Judgment be Reduced to an Algorithm? In this thought-provoking video, we explore the question of whether judgment can be algorithmically reduced. By examining examples like soldier-walking robots and giggling boxes, we challenge the notion of reducing complex human thought processes to algorithms. Join the conversation and share your insights! #AlgorithmicJudgment #HumanThoughtProcess #ArtificialIntelligence #ComplexDecisionMaking #FutureOfTechnology #TechnologyDebate #EthicalDilemma #PhilosophicalQuestions #ThoughtProvokingDiscussion #HumanVersusAI

After 5 months of developing #LeRobot policies in simulations, this was a surreal experience. Finished setting up the robot today, gathered 50 demo episodes, and trained a model for 2 hours. What you see in the video is fully autonomous operation. Full disclosure: I cherry-picked this demo (it took 8 attempts to get the whole sequence clean)
