The stakes are high during #MCIs, and the processes can be overwhelming. However, by using #patientwristbands, teams in Colorado have found new ways to simplify communication around tracking #patientmovement during MCIs and facilitating reunification during incidents and evacuations. “[Pulsara] actually improves patient lives and patient care. It's really a streamlined approach to patient care from the pre-hospital to hospital setting, developing those systems of care that ultimately improve patient outcomes day-to-day and in mass casualty events." - Dr. Jeremy DeWall, Medical Director for the Pikes Peak, Southern, and Southeastern Colorado Regions

Our new Quick Response Force has officially launched! By swiftly dispatching EM providers to IHS or Tribally operated facilities with a coverage gap, our new program ensures continuous, culturally responsive emergency department care for Native patients. While good ED care is vital everywhere, it's especially critical on remote reservations where a patient transfer could take hours. As Quick Response Force lead Arthur Sakakihara-Chavarria (Mescalero Apache) pointed out, there isn’t always a local provider pool to tap for a replacement when an EM physician can't report to duty. Our ABEM physicians and advanced practice providers are on call at all times to ensure coverage. They're also trained in?culturally responsive care. As our President Whittney LaCroix said, “Visiting an emergency room can be an extremely vulnerable moment for a patient. Quick Response Force will not only fill gaps in coverage, but also deliver an unparalleled level of culturally sensitive emergency medicine.” https://lnkd.in/gVYbAfr7 #physicianjobs #indigenoushealth #emergencymedicine #healthcareinnovation

?? Breaking Myths About the Emergency Department ?? The Emergency Department (ED) is a critical component of any hospital, but it's often surrounded by misconceptions. Let's debunk the top 5 myths: ?? Myth: The ED is only for life-threatening conditions. ? From severe infections to broken bones, the ED team is trained to manage various acute medical problems. ?? Myth: You will always have to wait for hours. ? Reality: EDs prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition. While non-critical cases might wait longer during peak times, life-threatening conditions are addressed immediately. In the world of emergency medicine, every second counts. But before Apprise's Healthcare Capacity System, finding space for patients when a hospital was overcapacity meant time-consuming phone calls to other facilities, often delaying critical care. For Dr. Vincent Torres at Providence, HCS represents more than just improved efficiency. It embodies a commitment to community care. As he puts it, "We're all different health systems, but our goals are the same: to provide the best care for our community." HCS enables hospitals to function as a unified network. When one facility reaches capacity, another with available resources can step in, ensuring patients receive timely care. This coordinated approach allows health care providers to better serve their communities, especially during peak times or crises.
