As we head into this Veteran's Day weekend, I wanted to share the history of this Federal Holiday. Many people think it's about BBQs with family and friends. It's more than that. Like most American holidays, there's a backstory, and it's usually interesting. Remembrance of the past helps us see pitfalls in the future. Please enjoy this article from the Department of Veterans Affairs. https://lnkd.in/dtFCEjH6

On bended knee this morning for our surviving World War ll Veterans… According to recent data from the National WWII Museum, as of 2023, only a small number of World War II veterans are centenarians and still alive, with estimates placing the number around a few thousand; this is due to the rapidly dwindling population of WWII veterans, with most being in their late 90s or older. Key points to remember: Less than 1% still alive: Only a tiny percentage of the 16 million Americans who served in WWII are still alive today. Median age is high: Most surviving WWII veterans are now in their late 90s. Centenarian veterans: While not a large number, there are a few thousand WWII veterans who have reached the age of 100.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when the forces of freedom sacrificed so much to stop the spread of tyranny. As the generation of veterans from that historic day dwindles with time, and as new threats have arisen in our time, let us never forget what they--and those thousands of young Allied soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice that day and are laid to rest near the beaches of Normandy--did for our nation and the world. https://lnkd.in/eCbZtVup

THEY ARE IGNORING THIS THIS IS THE POLICY OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. THE HYBRID NATION JUST PASSED A LAW TO STOP UNWRA, AND THEY HAVE MANIFESTLY FAILED TO PROTECT THE CIVILIAN POPULATIONS OF THE GAZA STRIP AND WEST BANK. IN FACT THEY ARE COMMITTING GENOCIDE. THIS LAW OR UN EDICT (R2P) SHOULD BE ACTED UPON WITH HASTE IF THE UN HAS ANY TEETH LEFT AFTER THE HYBRID NATION KICKED THEM OUT WITH THE BLIND LOYALTY OF THE USA AND THE UK. THERE MUST BE A LEGAL EAGLE THAT COULD EMBARASS THESE NATIONS THAT ARE HAPPY TO PRETEND AND"IGNORE THE R2P" Box 2 - The Responsibility to Protect At the UN World Summit in September 2005, Heads of State and Government of all UN member States signed up to the 'Responsibility to Protect' (R2P). This concept recognises that States are primarily responsible for protecting their own populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. The international community should help them to exercise their responsibility and use peaceful means to promote protection, but if peaceful means are inadequate and national authorities are manifestly failing to protect their populations, collective action can be authorised by the UN Security Council.reak,
"We must remember those who will never see that smile again." Minister for Veterans and People, Alistair Carns, honoured the vital contributions of those who gave their lives for our freedom.

https://lnkd.in/eTB8qvuz This is a highly informative comparison of the WWII Battle of Crete and potential war in Taiwan. The similarities are striking, and so are the lessons.

???? Veterans Day: Ever wondered about its true origins? ???? It all began at the end of World War I. Known then as “The Great War,” it officially concluded with the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919. The real end of hostilities came earlier. An armistice took effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month—November 11, 1918. This marked the end of “the war to end all wars.” Since then, November 11 has been dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. ??? But how do you truly honor them? Reach Out to a Veteran → A simple call or message can mean the world. Ask them about their experiences, and listen. ?? Attend a Veterans Day Event → Be part of a community that appreciates their service. It’s not just a ceremony, it’s a shared moment of gratitude. Volunteer at a Veterans' Organization → Many organizations need support. Whether it’s your time or resources, it matters. ?? Educate Yourself and Others → Learn about military history. Share stories of sacrifice and bravery. ?? Support Veteran Owned Businesses → Choose to spend your dollar where it counts. It’s a direct way to say 'thank you'. Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar. It’s about recognizing the sacrifices made for our freedoms. Their unwavering patriotism, love of country, and commitment to serving the greater good deserve our gratitude. So this November 11, let’s not just remember. Let's act. What will you do to honor a veteran? Let's make a difference together. #VeteransDay #HonoringOurHeroes #HistoryMatters #Gratitude
