Since December 2024, NHP responded to over 160 commercial vehicle crashes, seven of which were fatal. The state is introducing two thermal imaging vans to scan semi-trucks on major roadways. These vans help patrol officers quickly identify trucks with federal out-of-service orders or high safety scores by scanning Department of Transportation numbers and license plates."
