Every year National PTSD Awareness Month is observed in June. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms include depression, anxiety, nightmares, insomnia, and much more. This mental disorder is highly treatable, but due to the lack of knowledge around it as well as the stigma attached to seeking mental help. This month is not just about raising awareness, and educating ourselves, but it is a reminder of human strength, we are reminded not only of the human mind’s immense strength but also some of its limitations. It is a reminder that we are humans, and not machines and that it is completely normal to feel the emotions that we do. ? #PTSDawareness #raiseawareness #PTSDmonth #Actikare

Today is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) We’re raising awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Because the more we know about PTSD and how to treat it, the more those affected, and their loved ones will know they aren’t alone, and help is available. An individual may experience this as emotionally or physically harmful or life-threatening and may affect mental, physical, social, and/or spiritual well-being. Examples include natural disasters, serious accidents, terrorist acts, war/combat, rape/sexual assault, historical trauma, intimate partner violence and bullying. People with PTSD have intense, disturbing thoughts and feelings related to their experience that last long after the traumatic event has ended. They may relive the event through flashbacks or nightmares; they may feel sadness, fear or anger; and they may feel detached or estranged from other people. People with PTSD may avoid situations or people that remind them of the traumatic event, and they may have strong negative reactions to something as ordinary as a loud noise or an accidental touch. #ptsd #ptsdawarenessmonth #ptsdawareness #integratedwa #explore?
