The American Cancer Society is proud to launch the ACS National Prostate Cancer Roundtable. Some barriers are too complex for any one organization to tackle alone. #ACSNPCRT is the newest of ACS’s seven mission-critical roundtables dedicated to catalyzing collective action across the cancer continuum. ACS NPCRT was established to address the alarming rise in prostate cancer diagnoses in the US, particularly among Black men, who face disproportionate rates of incidence and mortality. Rooted in the power of partnership, the ACS NPCRT unites a coalition of diverse organizations under a shared mission: improving prostate cancer outcomes across the nation. We’re grateful to convene our leadership in Washington, DC this week to strategize, collaborate, and celebrate the launch of this shared effort. Visit our website to learn more: www.npcrt.org

Today is World Lung Cancer Day, a time to raise awareness and support those affected by lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. At Freenome, we are developing blood tests to detect lung cancer early, when it is most treatable. The PROACT LUNG Study is intended to validate the clinical performance of a blood-based test for the early detection of lung cancer. We are currently enrolling as many as 20,000 individuals who meet specific criteria. Together, we can drive significant progress in early cancer detection. #WLCD24 #EarlyDetection #Freenome

Proactive, early #costofcare discussions addressing all costs are key to reducing #financialtoxicity from diagnosis, treatment, #survivorship, and follow-up #financialnavigation #financialdistress #cancercare #healthequity #access #insuranceoptimization #oncology #navigation
Hot off the press in Cancer ?? Cost-of-care discussions for individuals with advanced non–small cell lung cancer and melanoma: Findings from a large, population-based pilot study https://lnkd.in/egGpEjgg Cost discussions were infrequently documented in the medical records of patients who were diagnosed with advanced non–small cell lung cancer and melanoma, which may hinder identifying patient needs and tracking outcomes of associated referrals. This new study led by Robin Yabroff of the American Cancer Society calls for efforts to increase cost-of-care discussions and relevant referrals, as well as their documentation.

Interim Cancer Fund: earlier, faster and fairer access to new cancer treatments in Australia ? An Interim Cancer Fund in Australia would provide earlier, faster and fairer access to new cancer treatments, bridging the gap between TGA registration and PBS funding, where there is a high unmet need and where patients cannot afford the time to wait for a medicine to be listed on the PBS. ? Ben McDonald, AstraZeneca’s Country President for Australia and New Zealand, believes that an Interim Cancer Fund is the best way to provide faster and fairer access to new cancer treatments, bridging the gap between TGA registration and PBS funding. ? Let’s all get together to raise awareness about Oesophageal Cancer & Barrett’s Oesophagus in Ireland, and show our support for those who are going through a cancer journey It’s about taking action; early detection is key. Ireland has approximately 500 new cases of Oesophageal Cancer annually — one of the highest rates in Europe. More so than with many other cancers, the early signs of Oesophageal Cancer are easy to overlook. Did you know that today is World Lung Cancer Day? Observed annually on August 1, World Lung Cancer Day aims to raise awareness and educate people about lung cancer, which affects millions globally. This year, the spotlight is on the collective strength we can harness to combat lung cancer, particularly by promoting early screening. In Latin America (LA), the burden of lung cancer is significant, with many cases going undiagnosed until advanced stages. Early screening is critical in improving outcomes, but access to these services remains uneven. To bridge this gap, it is essential to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and increase awareness and education about lung cancer in LA. By ensuring equitable access to early screening and treatment for all, regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status, we can save lives and reduce the burden of lung cancer worldwide. Revisit some of our work in the field: https://lnkd.in/gx26Ezha Art by Kathryn Salvatierra #LungCancerAwareness #AHF #Oncology #LatinAmerica
