GCU Practice Conference 2024: Navigating upcoming changes???? ? This year's BahnVerstand – Beratung im Schienenverkehr GCU practice conference focussed on the future of the GCU (General Contract of Use for Wagons) and the urgent need for rail transport companies to prepare for the upcoming changes. #PROSE-employee Dr. Bernhard Frei was present and reported on how #PROSE is increasingly advising rail transport companies on organisational development in connection with GCU tasks. The GCU landscape is changing and many rail transport companies are not prepared for the upcoming changes. In a recent interview, Dr. Bernhard Frei explained that while #PROSE has its roots in rolling stock engineering, it has evolved to support clients in broader areas such as ECM and SMS (Safety Management Systems), helping rail companies navigate the complex relationships between keepers, operators and organisational change. Will the sector be prepared for the changes to the GCU by 2026? Dr. Bernhard Frei is optimistic that a workable compromise will be found, but companies must prepare for the changes in good time. Find out more about how #PROSE can help your company prepare for the future???: https://lnkd.in/d-ec6eab #shapingtomorrowsmobility #GCU #practice #conference #changes #future #wagons #rail #transport #companies #organisational #development #rolling #stock #engineering #ECM #SMS #keepers #operators

We all want rail to be a success and for it to play its part in enabling economic, environmental and social change. And most of us probably agree that this means the sector needs to change itself to enable better customer experience and value for money. But we shouldn't forget that there are also things to celebrate, that some of the solutions to current problems are well known, and that many of the sector’s underlying strengths are unchanged. So how can we all help to set up the sector for success? And how can we all succeed in that environment? We have lived through an incredible few years and what does this teach about how to plan for whatever comes next? Paul Plummer, Professor in Rail Strategy. The BIG ‘Future of Construction’ conversation with Jose Antonio Nieto Alvarez, the new President of CECE - Committee for European Construction Equipment. At the end of INTERMAT Paris this year, I caught up with Jose to understand what CECE is doing to support the Low Carbon agenda, digitalisation, skills, training and the technical challenges the wider construction world faces. We get excited about the future, ‘wishing we were young again,’ and Jose shares his vision of how CECE, working with manufacturers and solution providers and collaborating with organisations like the Construction Equipment Association (CEA). Whether it’s supporting and shaping regulations, looking to future accredited training for new skills, or lobbying for change, Jose is clear that the construction sector needs to industrialise and embrace new technologies to be safer and more productive. #intermat #leadership #construction #infrastructure #skills #training?#CECE

As the TRB Annual Meeting slows down, John Hicks, AICP, PMP has had some time to think about what he’s learned. ?? Here are some of his thoughts: ?? Education and outreach are critical to help drivers understand the capabilities and responsibilities associated with advanced driver assistance technology. Collaboration between public agencies and vehicle manufacturers is key to achieving this goal. ?? Rural transportation is gaining attention, with innovative technologies and mobility strategies taking center stage. (Fun fact: Kittelson just completed a microtransit feasibility study in rural Onslow County, NC.) ??? Defining and measuring equity remains a significant challenge as its meaning varies across projects and agencies. There is a critical need for a framework or menu of equity performance measures and data sources. Such tools would help evaluate and effectively communicate equity impacts. #TRBAM
