With new literacy legislation passing in Indiana, our elementary students need all the support they can get to achieve academic milestones. It truly takes a village to raise a child - but it takes a village to raise an author, a designer, a city planner, and a civically engaged person, too. There are lots of global and national causes right now. There are higher rents, utilities, and grocery bills, too. There is absolutely need fatigue right now. But this is a Hoosier issue we can solve together. If 5 of my LinkedIn followers react to this post - that equates to 160 extra social capital eyeballs which helps garner support. If 7 of my connections share this? That triples the earning potential of this plea. If 9 of my people here comment, share, and put a $5 in that bucket that reaches 1,000+ people and makes sure we have snacks during tutoring for 35 students struggling to read because they are hungry. https://ayskids.org/donate/
For 44 years, we have supported Hoosier children and their families with before, after, and break programs where students can learn, grow, and thrive beyond the school day. Last year, we received state dollars to engage nearly 200 academically at risk 1st-6th grade students in tutoring supports at 5 of our schools. ? 87% of participants increased their ELA grade to a B or higher ? 79% saw the same improvement in their math grade ? 90% showed an increase in enjoyment towards independent reading Next school year, we want to impact 100 more students by adding 3 AYS programs - and we need your help getting to $10K before the first day of Fall Semester! https://bit.ly/AYSgive #ItTakesAVillage #NonprofitSupport #ForTheKids

?? LETCEE Mobile Toy Libraries: Bringing Play and Learning to Every Child ?? At LETCEE, we believe that no child should be left behind, especially when it comes to early childhood development. Our Mobile Toy Libraries are designed to reach children in remote areas where access to Early Childhood Development (ECD) services are limited or nonexistent. Play is essential for young minds, shaping their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Through our mobile services, we provide children with educational toys and a safe space to learn through play—unlocking their creativity, curiosity, and potential. By ensuring every child has access to these opportunities, we’re actively working to close the gap in early learning and give each child the foundation they deserve. Together, we’re building stronger futures for our communities, one playful moment at a time. ?? I absolutely LOVE my job. I LOVE working with young children, advocating for families, and supporting child care centers. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tell everyone about what I do and why it is so important to the community of St Tammany. But, I quickly learned that 4 mins is not enough time to express it all. St. Tammany Ready Start Network needs our community support. Fact:1. 80% of a child’s brain is developed by age 3. 90% of a child’s brain is developed by age 4. It is important that children have access to high quality care and education in their first years of life in order to set the foundation for later learning.2. Studies show (most famously The Perry Project) that children who participate in a high quality preschool are less likely to need special education classes, become incarcerated, become pregnant as a teenager, or drop out of high school.3. According to ALICE, child care is the HIGHEST household expense. 42% of St Tammany residents are ALICE families (working families living about poverty, but does not earn enough to pay all household expenses). This is either the family living to the left of you or the right of you!4. Our child care providers are not day cares or babysitters. They are truly early education centers and teachers. We are preparing children for kindergarten. They follow a curriculum, lead teachers are working on their CDA or ancillary certification, and classrooms are assessed twice a year.?5. The state offers a School Readiness tax credit for business owners, non-profits, etc with a tax id number. It is a $for$ credit (up to $5k). A donation can be made to the CCR&R and earmarked for St Tammany. The funds will be used to support the Network’s Blueprint goals. Call me or message me for more info!! This costs your business nothing bc you get it back and you support early care and education!! It’s a win/win!!? https://lnkd.in/gEG8aRxj

Did you know that it's Teacher Appreciation Week in the U.S.? The Association of American Educators estimates that public school teachers spend an average of $673 per year out-of-pocket on classroom supplies, and that teachers in high-poverty schools spend an average of $761 annually. As a former elementary school teacher, I can attest that even a quick "thank you" from parents and students was such a highlight! In addition, if you're looking for a way to directly support teachers in the classroom, consider checking out #donorschoose (https://lnkd.in/eukz4bQa)?and find a classroom project to fund.
