Our latest meta-analysis in the Journal of American College of Cardiology: Clinical Electrophysiology shows that among patients with AF, a rhythm control strategy is superior to rate control in terms of cardiovascular death, stroke, and heart failure hospitalizations; this benefit is driven mostly by contemporary trials. The use of catheter ablation in the rhythm control group was linearly associated with reduced cardiovascular death, all-cause death, and heart failure hospitalizations. The message is clear: Maintain the sinus rhythm for as long as possible! Researchers have found that the Antares oscillometric PWA algorithm, used with a simple blood pressure cuff, provides accurate estimates of cardiac output (CO) - comparable to Doppler echocardiography, an established but more complex procedure. Imagine being able to get important information about your heart health simply by putting on a blood pressure cuff. No invasive procedures, no complicated tests - just simple, everyday equipment available in every doctor's office and almost every home. This discovery could open the door to a new era of cardiology, where patients and doctors have access to important cardiac functions without having to resort to invasive or complicated procedures.
