On Friday, we partnered with #COPE(Christian Outreach Program—Elkhorn), #HeartlandHopeMission, and #Tri-County Long Term Recovery Group to witness the true power of the community as 59 dedicated volunteers and partners came together for the Arbor Day Tornado Cleanup in the Ramblewood Neighborhood.? More than six months after the storm's wake, there was no shortage of work to be done—yards filled with fallen branches, debris, and other challenges. But thanks to our collective effort and determination, we made a meaningful difference for the residents of this neighborhood.? Together, we cleared trees and other debris and helped restore hope and normalcy to those affected by the tornado. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and resources to this important effort.? Thank you for showing up, stepping in, and proving we can overcome challenges together.????? A huge thank you to redbox+ Dumpsters of Omaha and #Orlando’sLandscapingLLC for their amazing work in helping to restore our neighborhoods after the tornado! Your dedication and hard work are making a real impact, and we can’t thank you enough for everything you’re doing to breathe new life into our community. Our hearts go out to the Tampa community and all those affected by Hurricane Milton, we stand with you during this difficult time. In response to this crisis, Hextronics traveled up the coast to Tampa to get aerial footage of some of the hardest-hit areas. Our goal: To aid in efficient recovery efforts and uncover the impact of Milton. We understand that after a natural disaster, every second matters. We're honored to have partnered with Third Wave Volunteers to provide crucial footage. This collaboration will aid in community rebuilding efforts and help allocate resources where they're needed most. Through our large amount of aerial footage we captured: ? The few remaining locations with fuel, food and water. ? Debris and wreckage for pickup ? Areas that require additional help and support ? Fallen / damaged power lines and infrastructure ? Road blockages ? Community support areas While we're proud of how our technology performed, we're even more proud to play a small part in supporting Tampa's recovery. Our thoughts are with all those working tirelessly to rebuild and restore their communities. To learn more about how drone technology can assist in disaster response and recovery, please reach out or read our blog post below. Together, we can build more resilient communities. https://lnkd.in/eqX4Kgpv #HurricaneMiltonRelief #EmergencyResponse #AerialAutonomy #CommunitySupport #MakingADifference #Milton

#GoodNewsFriday: Babcock Ranch, a Florida town designed to withstand severe weather, recently sheltered over 2,000 residents during Hurricane Milton. This innovative community prioritizes climate resilience, featuring structures built to endure winds over 150 mph and powered by a reliable 150-megawatt solar farm. As Florida and communities across the country grapple with climate change, Babcock Ranch serves as a crucial model for integrating sustainability into community planning. By prioritizing climate-resilient designs, we can protect not only our infrastructure but also the health and safety of all residents. To truly build resilient communities, this type of infrastructure must be both accessible and affordable, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their location or income, can benefit from these life-saving protections. #ClimateResilience #PublicHealth #SustainableDevelopment #HurricanePreparedness #Health #PublicHealth #ClimateChange #Equity #GoodNewsFriday

Turn and face the storm…literally these last few weeks. American Bison ?? are my favorite animal because of their urge to turn and face a storm and march towards it. Their cow cousins run from the storm, leaving them in it longer while the bison passes more quickly through the storm. I have bison tattooed on me, bison artwork…it’s potentially a problem ?? But I post this here today because of the amazing feats of humanity I saw these past few weeks in response to literal storms…hurricanes Helene and Milton. People like Scott Mann who I witnessed first hand yesterday directing a massive collaborative effort across government and nonprofit entities to prepare for Hurricane Milton down in Florida…a part of his Task Force Pineapple…and all while he sat in a stateroom on a laptop on a cruise ship for a family vacation he planned months ago—not knowing what would hit. Leveraging his connections while literally on vacation, creating a TOC with whiteboards in his stateroom. To get big stuff done. That’s an American Bison move. People like retired NSW Seabee Mike Cook who was on the ground in NC/SC for Helene and will be in Florida this weekend. People like Herb Thompson coordinating volunteer efforts…connecting need with capability. People like the countless people I saw on the destroyed roads of North Carolina, grabbing what they had to go out and help where they could. Stopping to ask what they could do and where they could help. American Bison, everyone one of them. Despite what mainstream media says, how upset everyone is with each other over this election, despite the noise…there are American Bison ALL OVER the place turning towards the storms to help each other. Be like the American Bison. #hurricane #america #community

In light of the recent events, we want to extend our thoughts and support to our cofounders John Hertrich and Eusebio Coterillo and their families who reside in #Florida impacted by Hurricane Milton????? Amidst the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton, communities across Florida are grappling with the enormous challenge of cleanup, often without the electricity and fuel needed to get the job done. Efforts to restore normalcy are being hindered by blocked roads, flooded areas, and fallen trees. Despite these obstacles, fuel suppliers and power companies are working tirelessly to repair the essential infrastructure. Meanwhile, law enforcement is playing a critical role in the recovery process by providing escorts for fuel tankers to ensure that much-needed resources reach the hardest-hit areas. We know that natural disasters can disrupt lives in countless ways, from physical safety to emotional well-being. During this challenging time, we are here for you and want to ensure you feel supported and cared for. Let’s stay connected and help each other out wherever possible. We’re stronger together, and we'll get through this as a team. Please stay safe, and remember that your well-being comes first. ?? #EmployeeSupport #HurricaneRelief #TeamStrength #StaySafe #SupportEachOther

A little over a week ago, I arrived in Florida as an American Red Cross volunteer disaster responder — joining nearly 2,000 other Red Crossers throughout the Southeast. In the last eight days, I've traveled from Tampa to Port St. Lucie and so many places in between, listening to harrowing stories, stories of unfathomable loss, and stories of incredible resilience. And I've been humbled by communities that have welcomed us to share meals with them, to partner with them in their efforts to take care of one another, and to share their stories. As election day nears, stories about the aftermath of two hurricanes, a historic tornado outbreak, and post-hurricane flooding are waning, but the need remains great here in Florida and beyond, and no one can do it alone. Photo: Me and a future Red Cross volunteer I met this weekend at a disaster relief distribution hosted by Mt. Olive AME Church in Tampa. The Red Cross joined 18 churches and numerous community organizations to provide relief supplies to community members. More than 300 cars came through to receive water, cleaning supplies, baby formula, diapers, ready-to-eat meals, and more.
