Key Observations from 'Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2019': - Longevity: Looking at the 'Years Since Learning to Code' & 'Years Coding Professionally' stats, you can conclude that after year 14, most Developers move into another position (or career). - Career Satisfaction: 74.3% of Developers said they were satisfied with their career. - New Job: >50% of the respondents for the survey have taken a new job within the past two years. - Education: >80% of worldwide professional developers have a degree (Note: Associate degree = College diploma). - Certifications: Only 15% of respondents have completed an industry certification program (e.g. MCPD). - Race: Among Professional Developers, over 70% is of White or European descent, and over 15% are Asian. However, I believe there to be bias in the data with Stack Overflow not being as popular in Asia. - Gender: Over 90% of respondents were men. - Age: Over 85% of respondents are <40. - Company Size: 20 to 99 employees (21.2%) and 100 to 499 employees (17.9%) were most common. - Work Location of Preference: Office - 57.9%, Home - 33.2%, Other - 8.8% - Hrs.
