A very comprehensive toolbox

For my #EdTech network exploring GenAI applications in education, take a look at this new market map from Edtech Insiders! Exciting times for innovation in education!

Great insights and a potential road map/ visual showing the intersection of EdTech, education, L&D, and strategic use cases for AI, GenAI, LLMs, ML, and big data ... all of which are evolving so quickly and inevitably impacting the future of education and learning across all levels of formal education, higher Ed, career prep, micro credentialing, job training, and on the job learning for the formal professions students train for ... not to mention lifelong learning. What are the best practices /ways for utilizing and regulating and educating and mentoring -- not only students but workers and all citizens / community --so that we can use #AI & related tech .... these immensely iterative technologic shifts -- in more transparent, positive, creative, human- centric and productive ways where the end game is not to exclude human input and activity but to enhance it and create more opportunities for all? While it's wonderful and cost-effective to eliminate tedious, repetitive, brainless tasks and have a 'co-pilot' sitting beside you that can fly the plane better than you can -if necessary- as well as perform all monotonous work with fewer errors -if any - without complaint, and be the enthusiastic cheerleader to enhance & improve our own ideas & creative inputs with its endless data sets and energy ... we really have to balance the elimination of jobs, the change in normal human activity, the shift in traditional learning strategies, and the new employment landscape that this will create with more opportunities and equitable access to prosperity or the whole project could backfire. Because, quite frankly, as it stands - it often feels that AI's ultimate endgame may be to outperform all human activity and work & creativity & that leaves us all with a very existential conundrum to consider... Do we want to live in a world where all former professions are now AI dominated and humans are merely minders or monitors or prompters or editors rather than the actual primary doers? So, instead of becoming a teacher, you become an AI educational prompt facilitator and lecture monitor.....rather than transforming into an author, you become an AI copyeditor ...and instead of becoming a licensed attorney, you become an AI legal specialist and facilitator ... and instead of commercial pilot, you become an ML/AI/AR flight monitor specialist? I may be jumping ahead, but you get the idea....??????

Here we go! ASU+GSV Summit is a wild event. I’m honored to take the stage with some friends in the space next week. Some of us will bring our classroom lens to the discussion, while others will bring a technology lens, a caregiver lens, and most importantly, a human lens. We know that content lakes, walled gardens, LLMs, and algorithms can do so much, and when added to the mix, our human intelligence and the ability to transcend ideology and sift through what we can use and what we should set aside is what is needed. Building trust in transitioning to AI is a discovery where every organization has a different starting line, and we look forward to hearing every stakeholder’s views and approaches.

The winners of the "GenAI Skills Challenge" met at DataDotOrg's virtual event "Skilling that Scales" and discussed the initiatives they implemented for the literacy of different social groups in relation to the utilization of GenAI technologies! Yiorgos Nikoletakis, CEO of edtech company 100mentors, spoke about our joint initiative "GenAI Education Frontier", a training program for educators on skills related to the use of GenAI tools. He also highlighted the substantial impact we witnessed in the Greek educational community which, although largely unfamiliar with the use of Generative AI technology , trusted the program and learned about the benefits and possibilities of GenAI.
