Here are four ways you can adapt your documentation to fit within the now typical 8-second human attention span: - Break down procedures into more digestible chunks. Break your content down into clear, concise steps or sections. - Eliminate the unnecessary details. Focus on the most critical steps and information. Avoid extraneous details that distract from the main points. Get straight to the point of what your user needs to know. - Use visuals to enhance comprehension. Incorporate diagrams, flowcharts, icons, and other visual elements to convey information more engagingly and memorably. Visuals help you get team members on the same page faster. - Structure your content for easy navigation. Organize procedures into a clear hierarchy with headings, subheadings, and bullet points. This enables your team to quickly scan and find the information they need. Can you think of any other ways to adapt your documentation? #visualelements #ProcessDeliverySystems #Documentation

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words ?? Whether your work gets approved or not depends on how you present it. When I present my work, I use the "Show, don't tell" principle. Instead of describing a feature, include screenshots of competitors or a rough wireframes of the future interface. Show multiple screen states instead of describing the behavior. A video works better than a static image. Able to create a prototype? Run it during the presentation or let the client try it themselves. Even better if you can prototype it on the html. A picture is worth a thousand words, a prototype is worth a thousand layouts. #uidesign #presentation #insights

Want to know the #1 question I get as a presentation designer? "How long will it take?" The answer? "It depends." The answer requires a combination of many different factors, which is why the range for designing or re-designing a presentation can be so big. For a simple and visual breakdown of the time it can take to redesign a slide, see this post: https://lnkd.in/g47mfJn6 Thanks to Kirk Patel for this great (and simple) explainer. #designer #freelancing

The easiest 3 step-guide in carousel design: I call it the HEC framework. - Hook - Engage - Convert 1. Hook: - This determines if people stay or ignore. - Capture their attention with a strong visual hook. - Support the visual hook with a textual one. 2. Engage: - Now that you have their attention, keep them interested. - Use attractive visuals and maintain proper alignment. - Maintain a consistent flow of your carousel. 3. Convert: - Once you’ve engaged them, lead them towards taking action. - Provide a clear call-to-action (CTA) on the final slide. - This compels them to take action. People say carousels are dead in 2024. They ain’t, they still work the best. P.S. Do carousels work for you?

We don’t just work slide by slide! Just like an editor doesn’t always work through a document from top to bottom, a HWD designer doesn't either. Personally, I like to look at the whole deck first to get a feel for the overall story and flow. At this point, I'm looking at sections/chapters/modules, signposting and visual 'flow'. Does it align with the brand guidelines or theme? Then, depending on the content, I'll move onto specifics like tables, lists, paragraphs of text, headers, call-out text... the list is endless (it isn't actually endless - we have a very comprehensive #checklist we adhere to, naturally ??♀?). Every designer has their unique process—what’s yours? _______________________________________________ ?? Hey, I'm Katy!
