The CDC recommends this vaccine for all infants, unvaccinated children, adults up to 59, and older adults with specific risk factors. Options include a 2-dose or a 4-dose series, which can also protect against Hepatitis A. Risk factors include sexual and blood exposure, shared needles, and existing conditions like Hepatitis C or HIV. WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY If a Child begins to run temperature or starts to experience other life- threatening symptoms, every adult in the home begins to panic and If symptoms aren't relieved the child is rushed either to the nearest pharmacy or hospital, I remember a few times I experienced this growing up and how loved I felt seeing my parents go the extra mile to ensure I feel better. Imagine a world without medications, vaccines and other innovations in the health sector that has improved life expectancy over the years and now Children have the opportunity to live a life free of polio, meningitis, pneumonia,cervical cancer, hepatitis B infection, HIV & AIDS ?and so many other endemic diseases especially in developing countries. Now children have the opportunity to grow up like every other child regardless of color to become world changing leaders. CDC issues a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory to alert healthcare providers to an increase in invasive meningococcal disease, mainly attributable to Neisseria meningitidis serogroup Y. Healthcare providers should: 1) have a heightened suspicion for meningococcal disease, particularly among populations disproportionately affected by the current increase; 2) be aware that patients may present without symptoms typical of meningitis; 3) ensure that all people recommended for meningococcal vaccination, including people with HIV, are up to date for meningococcal vaccines. ??New Research Alert! We're proud to share our latest publication in Vaccine! Explore “High Prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in Unvaccinated Adolescent Girls in South Africa, Particularly Those Living with HIV.” This study highlights the critical need for effective HPV vaccination strategies, especially for vulnerable populations. ??Abstract: In 2014, South Africa launched a two-dose HPV vaccination programme for girls aged 9 and older attending Grade 4 at public schools. This study assesses HPV prevalence and risk factors among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 17–18 who were ineligible for vaccination.
