This new brief from our research partners Abt Associates and Child Trends provides an introduction to the 13 collaborative projects funded by the Child Welfare Community Collaborations (CWCC) initiative by addressing the following questions for each: ? What key partners did CWCC grantees engage in their collaborative work? ? What strategies did CWCC grantees propose as part of their collaborative work? ? What prior experience did grantees have with community-level collaboration? ? What evaluation designs did they use? ??Now that we know Andy Reid had the better playbook and leader in Patrick Mahomes Jr. to execute his playbook; it’s time to ask, what’s in your state’s playbook and how is your state’s Governor driving your state agencies to success? Have you considered the influence a governor’s background can have on their approach to design and goals for key agencies in your state? With my career centered around criminal justice and reform, I’ve been closely monitoring state governors and their policies that impact reentry systems, schools, child welfare, and small agencies that I call “community impact agencies.” Did you know that 14 out of 50 governors serve states they weren’t born in? While I can’t provide direct evidence of a correlation, it’s worth pondering how a governor’s personal background might shape their stance on justice, rehabilitation, education, economic empowerment, and child welfare. I’m particularly interested in tracking appointments and agency changes that affect citizens and programs within justice systems. Moving forward, I’ll delve deeper into this topic and its potential implications. Additionally, I aim to engage with local agency leaders to develop tailored and localized “Playbooks” for community impact agencies as resources in potentially under-resourced localities.
