Legacy code: code that has been running and profitable for a long time. Sometimes it’s bad, out of style, or risky against future business goals. But it wouldn’t still be running if it didn’t fulfill the core need of delivering value. There’s something to be learned from it.
Call me crazy but the older I get, the more I enjoy diving into (legacy or neglected) code and improving it, often more so than working on a new feature. ?? There's a different type of satisfaction when the refactored code runs 3x or 5x or even 20x+ faster. Not to mention it often comes with code pruning commits!
