In the midst of our busy lives, it's easy to forget the roots of our family tree, the incredible people who walked this path before us.
Something I appreciate after moving to Mexico is their?Day of the Dead celebrations.??
In this culture, its a time to slow down and take time to honor & remember those who paved the way for us, leaving a legacy that still touches our lives today.
Its like a heartfelt reunion between the living and the dearly departed. It's a day when we hit pause on our modern hustle & bustle to reconnect with our ancestors in a personal and touching way.
Bringing Memories to Life
One of the most beautiful traditions of the Day of the Dead is the creation altars of love dedicated to our ancestors. They?are filled?with marigold flowers, candles, decorative skulls, and the favorite foods and drinks of those who have passed away.
It's like setting a table for our departed loved ones, inviting them back to our world, so we can share a meal and relive the stories we hold dear.
Love is Kept Alive Through Remembering
Memory is a precious gift & on the Day of the Dead, it shines brightly. The act of remembering is our way of ensuring that our ancestors live on. We keep their spirits alive in our hearts & minds through the stories we share about their lives.
It is a time to?learn about their lives through stories passed down through the generations, and we honor their wisdom & strength.
Connecting the Dots Between Past and Present
The Day of the Dead creates a bridge between generations. It's a day when our youngest family members get to learn about the family members?they might have never met but can come to know through these shared traditions.
The stories we pass on create a sense of continuity, reminding us that we're all part of a much bigger story.
This celebration is not a solemn affair but a joyful one, celebrating the enduring nature of love & family ties.
