Over the last 6 weeks, I have had the opportunity to work as an Investment Consultant Intern at LCP. I would like to take this chance to say thank you to everyone at LCP for making my time there both professionally and personally a very rewarding and memorable experience. I got to experience first-hand their dedication and commitment to their people and their clients through being involved in a number of projects and client work, such as attending a client research meeting and completing monthly valuations of asset managers. In addition to developing my technical knowledge, I developed key skills which will prove invaluable as I continue my undergraduate degree and look to start my career. Particularly, providing a performance review of the main asset classes at the LCP Investment Monthly Conference for June, in front of the investment team, helped to develop my presentation skills. I was given other challenges such as completing various explanation tasks and presenting research surrounding sample pension schemes. Here I used LCP’s internal research systems to evaluate current asset allocations and suggested my own investment strategy to improve funding deficits and hedging against risks. And for my final project, I researched the UK equity market, assessing how it has performed over the years through evaluating the FTSE indices, All Country World Index and relevant price-to-earnings ratios, before recommending revised asset allocations to UK equities, in the form of a practice Trustee Training Session. This has certainly helped to improve my knowledge surrounding equities, and the general stock markets globally. Understanding how a corporate environment works, observing first-hand the importance of leadership, setting clear objectives, developing and supporting people and having an unwavering focus on providing clients with best-in-class advice, are things that I can confidently say I have learnt here at LCP and can actively take into the next stage of my life. Being able to embrace the fabulous, supportive culture at LCP has made my time here unforgettable and I would once again like to thank everyone for their time and support. I truly believe LCP are making a positive difference to the market… through ‘powering possibility’.

You earn K100,000 what investment can you do?! In my presentation at the school of success I did submit that by all means try to put aside 15% of your earnings. Assuming you are starting out at 20 years. You can consistently put aside K15,000 to K20,000 in investment account every month by buying shares of say K10,000 and you put up K5,000 in an emergency investment fund. I remember buying 30,000 NBS shares for K180,000 for my son who had been paid by us for doing some work at home when he was in Primary School in 2017. Later in the years he started to buy small small amount from pocket money and internship earnings. But the seed he had planted in 2017 is now worth about K10.4m by all standards that K162,000 is no where close to K10.4m. Imagine if he had continued to buy those shares every month including using his dividends as well as an investment. By now he should have been having not less than K50m in value using the power of compounding. With K10,000 you can buy about 28 NBS shares or 110 AIRTEL shares, about 500 TNM shares or 550 MPICO shares. Start small and be disciplined to be consistent. Through consistent investments and the compound interest your investment over time will surprise you. Start today to put aside an emergency fund and buy shares using the 15% rule at a tender age and you will experience miracles. Parents can do likewise for their kids as a seed and a gift which you can hand over to them later as they move to become independent.

I applied for a position with shoes too big to fill. It worked I have just gotten a Chartered Alternative Investment Association (CAIA Association) scholarship. It’s a big thing in finance - essentially, an extra Masters degree. It’s: -Prestigious -Highly competitive -Has “Sean is not perfect candidate” written all over How did I get in? Extremely honest cover letter. I didn’t try to be the smartest person in the room I didn’t hide my flaws (Hello, I barely survived exam period) Instead, I leaned into the story: -Several years in alternative investments as a student -A turbofailure of the startup that taught me more than majority of my subjects -A passion for backing chaotic, odd people and their mad plans I told them that the scholarship isn’t about money - it’s about believing in the small man. Belief that unconventional paths are just as valid as traditional ones. Belief that betting on people (and ideas) others overlook can pay off. And guess what? It totally worked. Sometimes, applying for things you think are out of reach pays off. Sometimes, being honest about who you are works. If you’ve been holding back from applying for something because you think you’re “not enough,” DO IT. (P.S. I’ll drop my full cover letter in the comments if you’re curious!)

?? Exciting News ! ?? I'm thrilled to announce that I have been offered the chance to participate in a 1-unit independent study course over the summer, where I'll be helping to monitor the SIF (Student Investment Fund) portfolio. This unique experience will involve weekly correspondence with my professor, reviewing current portfolio holdings and sector allocations, and making critical decisions as stocks approach and/or trigger their stop-losses. The Student Investment Fund (SIF) is an incredible opportunity where students manage an investment portfolio currently worth nearly $4 million, offering unparalleled real-world experience. It is one of the largest student-run funds in the Western United States, providing students the chance to interact directly with investment industry professionals and regularly outperform major benchmarks like the Russell Microcap and Standard & Poor's 500. Through this opportunity, I will gain valuable skills in: ?? Risk Management: Understanding and mitigating investment risks. ?? Portfolio Management: Learning how to effectively manage and balance investment portfolios. ?? Decision-Making: Making timely and informed decisions based on market conditions. ?? Financial Analysis: Analyzing stock performance and market trends. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to deepen my understanding of portfolio management and investment strategies in a real-world setting. A huge thank you to my Professor Ben Carlston for considering me for this role and for his invaluable guidance and support. Special thanks to the scholarship committee for covering the cost of this unit, making this learning experience accessible and financially feasible. Today I'll be sharing with you a very important learning i acquired during the course of my internship, something most of us clearly neglect but can make a huge difference. Investing!?? The term is familiar isn't it. There used to be a time when most people didn't even know or think of this term much. Most households were focused on 'savings'. While saving extra funds available is good, there is no gain in keeping all that money idle. This is where investment comes into play. While investing you are not only saving, but you are also accumulating. As years go, the worth of the amount you saved will decrease, but the investment you make will appreciate over its lifetime. While it sounds interesting there are many nuances affiliated to mastering how to invest best. I'll tell you some basic points that will help you start. 1. Where to invest? The beauty lies in understanding that there is no shortage of avenues to put your money in, be it the traditional fixed deposits, post office savings scheme or national pension scheme that we have heard of or the more non-conventional ways of investing such as equity, bonds, mutual funds ,ULIP etc. 2. What is your risk tolerance and investment objective? Are investing for the long term or short term? Are you investing to meet fund requirements for a specific purpose? If so what do you expect as returns? How much risk can you tolerate? These are some of the questions you should have an answer for before choosing where and what to invest in. 3. Have you done a thorough research? Just because one of these avenues match your profile does not necessarily mean you can just go for it. You should analyse the waters where you intend to dip your toes into, understand the different aspects of it before making a decision. Therefore, it is always better to consult a professional if you are a beginner. Investing is an amazing option for people of any age. But it's always better to start young. Time is money when it comes to investment. The sooner you start the more you can earn. Be smart, be aware, research better, and start your investments now ?? #investment #savings #stockmarket #equity #mutualfunds #bonds #financialplanning #investyoung

Private equity is more than crunching numbers - it’s about mastering strategy, building relationships, and staying humble when plans go sideways. It’s a field where even the best ideas are constantly tested against unpredictable markets, teaching humility and resilience along the way. Choosing a career path in finance, particularly in private equity, demands more than just a strong academic background - it requires a blend of humility, commitment, and a strategic approach to relationship-building. ?? The courses offered by EDHEC Business School support students in navigating this demanding but rewarding field. ?? #privateequity #edhec #makeanimpact #finance #masterdegree #humility ?? https://lnkd.in/dDSkgMup

This is how my transformation began… When I embraced investing! And it's not just about the money; it’s about investing in self-growth too. I remember graduating with a 1st Class Honours Degree, and my lecturer suggested, "Why not pursue a Post Graduate Degree?" My response was, "No thanks, I’ve had enough learning." Little did I know at that age that the journey of learning never truly ends; we should constantly seek knowledge and growth! The saying "If you're not growing, you're dying" resonates deeply with me. Looking back, it feels like just yesterday when I decided to dive into the world of investments. That decision sparked a shift in my mindset, financial landscape, and ultimately, my perspective on life. It’s more than just numbers on a screen. It’s the empowerment that comes from steering your financial future. It’s the peace of mind knowing you're on the path toward security and a brighter future! Are you investing in yourself? Have you thought about what others are learning or investing in? If not, maybe this post will ignite that spark within you. #SelfInvestment #LearningJourney #PersonalGrowth
