In creating the Bloomsburg Area YMCA - Community Resource Hub, our team has created five distinct goals that we aim towards every single day so that we can best serve ALL of Columbia and Mountour County residents. The official unveiling of the CRH is coming soon, but in the meantime, our team is preparing by doing all we can to best understand the resources available. GOALS: 1. Create a Community Hub that is designed to meet the everchanging needs of the community and provide safe, confidential services that strengthen family life and individual growth. 2. Serve more people through programs and services that fulfill community needs by being the premier provider of community programming. 3. Provide more Y-based counseling and services for children and adults in schools, homes and the community. 4. Foster connections between the YMCA and the Community by becoming a preferred community partner. 5. Broaden the ability to serve a larger audience by providing the resources needed in the community.

Happy Friday, my LinkedIn friends. Well, my beloved Blue Devils are gone from men and women’s #MarchMadness tournament. At this point I’m sure, many of your brackets are probably busted (like mine). As we head into the last few games, I’m thinking about my #FinalFour with a slightly different lens.? Last year, I was all about the sweet sixteen.? This year it’s the final four for children and families.? At the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, we believe that all families, no matter their background, should have access to the resources they need to raise thriving children. On Healthy Children and Families we pursue grantmaking and programming in four strategies and focal points to make that vision a reality: Care As a Public Good Agenda Setting Leadership and Power Inspiring Change for a New Economic Vision Collective Responsibility for Family Wellbeing We need all four in order to cut down the nets…and advance inclusive economic structures, policies, and practices that ensure families can thrive. There may be high stakes on the court, but there are higher stakes for the nation if we don't make it right for children and families.

If you’re interested in economically sound, evidence-based, family-centred early learning and parenting support programs, it’s worth checking out the Impact Report Playgroup NSW has just released for its review of the Sutherland Supported Playgroup. Sutherland Supported Playgroup has been serving the community for almost 15 years. Supported by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice through the Targeted Earlier Intervention program, Sutherland Supported Playgroup works to strengthen family capacity, connect vulnerable families to useful help, and build networks of support that can help families navigate challenging times together. In 2022/23 alone, Sutherland Supported Playgroup served 126 children and their families, contributing to: ? Attainment of age-appropriate #ChildDevelopment milestones and early identification of developmental support needs. ? Strengthened #SocialInclusion, #CommunityCohesion, #CommunityParticipation and connection for children and families. ? Enhanced skills, confidence and empowerment for parents and caregivers, reinforced by durable networks of peer support. Children thrive when their families are well supported, resourced and connected within caring communities. The best form of child protection is family support, and every dollar invested in family strengthening saves a hundred in intensive out of home care services. As the Impact Report demonstrates, Supported Playgroups are an efficient and effective way of mobilising those supports in ways that create lifelong impact.
