2 years ago, POWER 4 ALL and their partners SOLAR Hope, Zonta Metro Club of Ortigas and Megaworld Foundation, Inc. distributed solar home kits for 50 families and school supplies for 300 children in Brgy. Sta Ines, Tanay, Rizal. A week later tragedy struck... A jeepney got stuck at night while crossing a river and a flash flood came due to heavy rains claiming the lives of 9 people. These 9 people where from the same community that was part of our outreach. We thought of ways on how to prevent something like this from happening again. Power 4 All raised funds to procure solar streetlights and we reached out to one of our partners Solar Hope to provide the coordination with the barangay as well as other materials needed. After a long journey and crossing several rivers, we finished installing these solar streetlights so that people will be able to pass through the area at night safely and be able to see the river levels before crossing. We hope to help impact more communities in the future. #power4good #power4all #cleanpower #solar #solarpower #solarstreetlight #solarstreetlights #solarlight #solarlights #renewables #renewableenergy #sustainability #sustainable #sustainabledevelopment #communitydevelopment #csr #corporatesocialresponsibility #socialenterprise #socialentrepreneurship #donation #philantrophy #tanay #rizal #philippines

Renewable Energy is the future, unequivocally!! Solar energy has always been more than just an industry to me—it's a powerful solution for a brighter, cleaner, and more sustainable future. As I reflect on the incredible potential of solar energy, I'm reminded of why it resonates deeply with me. ?? In India, the future of solar power is incredibly promising. With its abundant sunshine, vast landscapes, and growing need for renewable energy, solar energy offers a pathway to not only reducing our carbon footprint but also achieving energy independence. The shift towards solar is no longer a distant dream—it's happening now. The benefits are clear: Environmental Impact: Solar power is a clean, renewable resource that can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combating climate change and improving air quality. Economic Growth: As the solar industry grows, it creates jobs, stimulates innovation, and attracts investment, driving sustainable economic development. Energy Access: Solar power has the potential to bring electricity to remote, underserved areas, empowering communities and enhancing quality of life. While we are making progress, the true potential of solar in India lies in scaling up investments, improving technology, and creating supportive policies that make solar energy even more accessible to all. With continued dedication and innovation from Prayatna I believe solar power will play a pivotal role in shaping India's future energy landscape. Let's continue working together to harness the sun's energy for a cleaner, brighter tomorrow! ?? Manaswani Saxena Bhushan Rintumon K. II’m Susheel Awasti from Ataura Khurd village, and I want to share a story of how something as simple as street lights has completely changed life here. Before we got electricity, power cuts were a constant problem. We never knew when the lights would go out, and without reliable power, even the simplest tasks like cooking or having meals on time became a struggle. But everything changed when Prayatna?partnered with?Ramboll?to install?solar-powered street lights in our village. It wasn’t just about lighting up the roads; it was about bringing peace of mind to all of us. These lights work regardless of the electricity supply, lighting up our neighborhood even during power cuts. Whether it’s raining or chilly outside, the lights shine bright through the night and turn off automatically in the morning. Now, we have: 1.Safe spaces for children?to play and study in the evenings. 2.A sense of security, as we can clearly see who’s coming and going at night. 3.And the peace of mind that comes with knowing our village is?always illuminated. We are forever grateful to?Prayatna?and?Ramboll?for their support in making this dream a reality. If you feel inspired by our story and want to help bring this change to more villages, please consider donating. Every contribution helps spread the light and hope to communities in need. #LightingUpLives #CommunityImpact #SolarEnergy #Prayatna #Ramboll #RuralDevelopment #SustainableSolutions #StreetLights #MakeADifference #DonateForChange #HopeInAction #EmpowerCommunities #SafeAndBright #LightTheWay #ChangeMakers #TogetherForProgress #IlluminationForAll #VillageTransformation

The video above shows a Masara Steel Community member using the water well installed in 2022, highlighting the positive impact of our project. (August 9th, 2024) As summer ends and we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, I’m excited to update you on the Virginia Tech Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Kenya team’s recent achievements. Since starting our project with the Masara Steel Community in western Kenya in 2019, we successfully installed a water pump in 2022. Due to increased population and continued need, the community has requested a second well, which we plan to build in May 2025. Thanks to the generous support from Engineers Without Borders USA and the Student Engineers' Council at Virginia Tech, we raised $10,000 in spring 2024. Our summer efforts included conducting a survey, gathering data from 73 households and 1,149 residents. Here are some key findings. - 51% of households struggle with water storage contamination due to uncovered containers. - 56% of residents use the 2022 well as their primary water source, while the remaining 44% are forced to use other sources due to long travel distances. - 100% of well users reported having year-round access to water. - 29% of residents reported not having year-round access to their main water source, all of whom rely on sources other than the well. We believe a second well closer to the western side will greatly improve access and community health. As we enter the fall semester, we are working to raise an additional $10,000 to cover travel and construction costs. Any support is greatly appreciated. For more information on how you can contribute, please visit my donation page or the EWB link on my profile. Thank you for following our journey, and I look forward to sharing more updates as we approach our travel dates! Our wind farms are helping to decarbonise the grid, but did you know they also bring considerable investment into the communities living nearby? For instance, the Fallago Environment Fund, has awarded more than £2 million to a huge range of projects across the Scottish Borders, since it launched in 2013. The Fallago Environment Fund is funded by Roxburghe Estates, Federated Hermes and EDF Renewables UK. Many of those receiving support from the Fallago Environment Fund will have had their funds matched. In fact, it's estimated that an extra £10 has been raised for every £1 donation from the Fund... which is a huge boost to the local area. The Fund has supported projects focused on: ?? Habitat restoration ?? Historic building preservation ?? New museums ?? Support for vulnerable residents and young people ?? Community events ??Covid-19 support Pictured (left-right) are Liam Haig, Area Manager for EDF Renewables UK and His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe. #CommunityBenefitFunds #Scotland #Communities #Sustainability #OnshoreWind

Acu?a, Mexico, is one hot place during the summer, with temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A local children’s home, Casa Hogar Esperanza, found the cost of running its air conditioning units to be prohibitive after a local company that had been paying for the electricity changed leadership and ended its charitable support. The home tried to keep the children cool by using the units only sparingly. KBGCNA contributed $107,350 in grant funding toward a 136-panel rooftop photovoltaic system to generate electricity for the home. The Bendix Foundation, directed by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix), contributed $28,200 to the project. Additionally, Bendix donated the solar panels, which reduced the overall project cost by $24,000. The grants funded the purchase and installation of the system and transformer, along with maintenance for 20 years, insurance, and remote oversight. The system has begun going online in stages. Once the home can use 100% of the energy produced by the panels, the system is calculated to reduce electricity costs by almost 90% while enabling the operation of the HVAC units. Average monthly savings are expected to be about $2,500. The energy generation is so significant that the units will essentially run for free. “Our support for Casa Hogar Esperanza and its children goes back many years, and we’re pleased to help meet their need for cost-efficient cooling,” said Maria Gutierrez, president of KBGCNA and senior director of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) at Bendix. “The effort aligns with KBGCNA’s larger mission to contribute to the well-being of underserved populations in the surrounding communities of Knorr-Bremse’s North American companies. Making a positive difference in the communities we call home is incredibly important.” Read more about this project: https://lnkd.in/gmhyhabZ #WeMoveTogether #CommunitySupport #LifeAtBendix ??

There's no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to supporting the local communities living near our renewables sites. In North Lanarkshire, for instance, the local communities have decided – with the support of Foundation Scotland – to distribute the grants from the new West Benhar Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund through three existing local groups in the area. ?? The Hartfield Eastfield and Greenrigg Group will distribute the funding to Eastfield and Greenrigg (HEG) communities. It's an established charity and already manages funding from other renewable energy projects in the area. ?? In Shotts and Fauldhouse, Getting Better Together Limited and the Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust, will manage their respective share of the funds. Local people in Fauldhouse have already started to see the benefits of the grants, with: ? A £1,000 grant to support a barista training partnership for three young people from Burnhouse School, a local skills centre in Fauldhouse (pictured left) ?? A grant of £5,000 to provide a diverse summer programme for children (pictured right) and free lunches to children during the summer holidays.
