Does temperature impact you? According to ASHRAE, workers’ motivation and productivity may fluctuate with temperature changes, which is why thermal comfort is so important. Heat and cold have been found to be related to feelings of lethargy and fatigue. Excess heat causes our blood vessels to dilate and dissipate heat, but this process takes energy that can cause tiredness. In fact, the Becker Friedman Institute in Chicago found that productivity declined at a rate of 2 to 4 percent for every additional 1°C above 27°C. As well as proper temperature control, keeping indoor spaces ventilated is key to a productive workplace.
